Groundswell started as a newsletter in 1986 and has evolved from a journal into the colourful collection of personalities, products and practicalinformation that it is today.

Groundswell is published each month, 12 times per year and is an essential marketingtool with a comprehensive and informative delivery of what encompasses the industry.

Groundswell is created on an Apple Mac and is output directly to plate. Suppliers of digital advertising material are responsible for checking all files before sending to NGIV. Any work undertaken by NGIV to process non-compliant materialwill incur a charge. Due to the highly specialised and complex technical nature of image/plate setters, and to ensure thebest quality reproduction of your material, NGIV has the following guidelines. Any digital file that does not comply withthese guidelines cannot be accepted. Electronic advertisements are to be supplied as a press ready, high resolution pdf.

WE DO NOT ACCEPT: Microsoft Publisher, Word, Powerpoint, CorelDraw as final art.

Groundswell is a four colour process publication. All pantonecolours will be converted to CMYK and we will not be heldresponsible for the outcome.

Prepress:

Total Ink – 300%Dot Gain - 5%.

Fonts:

All fonts must be embedded or supplied (both printer andscreen). Please do not artificially stylise fonts (eg: bold, italics)as simulation results in unsatisfactory output. All fonts to beconverted to outlines within application used. Please avoid alltruetype fonts.

Images:

All images included in the files supplied must be grayscale orCMYK, file type EPS or TIFF, @ 300dpi to the exact size required(i.e. 100%), line art bitmap tiff files @ 1200 dpi. Not RGB orjpeg files. Please do not, under any circumstances, supplyimages and logos that have been taken off a web page. Theimages have been placed for use on the internet only and arestrictly not suitable for printed publications. No embeddedcolour profiles are to be used. LAB or RGB colour modes cannotbe used. JPEG files sent via email will only be accepted afterbeing checked for quality, and will be converted into the suitable format. Note that embedded JPEGs in supplied advertscan cause print errors and should not be used. Please convertthose images to CMYK as specified earlier.

Bleed:

Minimum 3 mm is required for full-page advertisements only,and always allow enough space for trim. All smaller sized adsshould be made to the mechanical specifications given.

Format:

Hi res Prepress PDF files and have:

1. All fonts embedded (NO Truetype fonts accepted)

2. The correct mode (ie. CMYK or Grayscale)

Never RGB or LAB or embedded color profiles. (ie. ICC profiles)

3. All spot colors MUST be converted to CMYK. NO file withPMS colors accepted.

4. OPI must NEVER be included in the file. (see advancedtab in distiller)

5. Resolution: 300dpi for all submitted images and files.

6. All ads must have position marks for non-bleed ads andtrim and bleed marks for bleed ads.

Design Charges

We offer a complete ad design facility. Charges for all designservices will be made separately. Should extensive work orauthor changes* be required, additional charges will beincurred subject to viewing supplied material.

Charges will be made to advertiser or agency at commercialrates for digital files that require operator alterations madeto your files due to errors in the the material supplied.

*Author changes are where an advertiser supplies copy or hasagreed to copy and, on sighting the proof, makes extensive changesto the previously agreed/supplied copy.
