Cisco ‘Meet Me’ telephone conference call facility

A telephone conference facility called ‘Meet Me’ is available through your Cisco IP telephone.

This facility is also available to those who have Cisco IP Communicator installed on their laptop.

Setting up a conference call from your Cisco telephone

As the organiser, you will need to initiate the conference in order to allow others to join your telephone conference call. To do this, please follow the steps below. If you are using a Cisco softphone on your laptop, please see separate guidance.

Step 1: Before lifting the handset on your Cisco IP telephone, press the ‘New Call’ button. You will hear a dialling tone.

Step 2: Press the ‘More’ button until an option called ‘Meet Me’ displays on the screen. Press the ‘Meet Me’ button. Your telephone may bleep twice.

Step 3: To initiate the conference call, enter the 4-digit extension of your telephone conference number.

For example, if the conference call number is 0151 296 XXXX, you will need to dial XXXX to set up the conference call for others to be able to join.

Please note: if participants try to join the call before the organiser has initiated the conference, participants will hear an engaged tone and will not be able to join the call. As such, it is important for organisers to be punctual when setting up the conference call.

Setting up a conference call from your Cisco softphone

If you are using a Cisco softphone on your laptop, you will need to click on the Cisco IP Communicator icon on your computer desktop (see below) to reveal your virtual telephone. A headset and microphone will be needed to use this facility.

Step 1: Prior to setting up the conference call, in order to be able to hear and communicate with participants, please plug your headset into your laptop device using the USB.

Step 2: On your virtual telephone, select the ‘New Call’ option.

Step 3: Select the ‘More’ button until an option called ‘Meet Me’ displays on the screen. Select the ‘Meet Me’ button. Your virtual telephone may bleep twice

Step 4: To initiate the conference call, enter the 4-digit extension of your telephone conference number. You can enter this number using your mouse on the virtual telephone keypad or by using your laptop keyboard.
