Government - a group of people who run a country or states

Courts - a body of presided over by a judge or judges or magistrates dealing with civil or criminal cases

Democratic - a system of government in which power is given to the people by voting also it's a freedom of speech when they vote

Electoral- relating to elections or elections

Local - a particular area or one's neighbourhood where somebody lives

National - relating to or characteristics of a whole nation

Operation -how things work

Public debate - a debate either in public or the public during the debate

Civil law - the law that concerned with private relations ie. family or community

Media - means of mass communication for example news papers ie the times or tv, rdio or advertising

Pressure groups a group that tries to influence public policy in the interest of a -particular cause

Justice system -the practices and institutions of governments directed at upholding social control

Laws- the system that rules a particular country that is enforced by imposing penalties

Parliament- in the uk the highest legal force consisting of the monach house of lords and the house of commons

Ofsted introduced this in 2015 in schools up and down the country “should have the fundamental british values “

The uk should abide by these everyday because we are british and theses are our values

Consumer rights

Consumer rights is the people who uses a business's products and they have rights like trading standards to make sure it is legal and not breaking any rights

The media The media can be a good and bad thing A good thing about the media is that it gets published so everybody will see it but a bad thing is that the media can twist things and options to make it look bad for example the sun newspaper says apparently one in 5 muslims are terrorists and i don't know where they get there facts and figures from but however a broadsheet newspaper is more -

Politically And based on facts and statistics and less biased

“The sun is more tories and the daily mirror is more labour” quoted from a meeting with Mr bailey our current mp

Protests,pressure groups and ethics

A pressure group tries to influence the government to what they believe in a decision for example edl and greenpeace

A protest is people who stand up for their rights for example teacher unions or the nhs budgets cuts to junior nurses

Ethics is doing something in favor of everybody else not just think about yourself 6

Democracy

1st past the post In the 50 80% of people voted and now only 65.8% of people voted in 2015

Political parties Conservatives, labour , ukip , green party etc

Parliament passes on laws and is made up of 646 mps and 730 members of the house of lords

The government is executive putting laws into effect Every government department has a civil servant called a parliamentary secretary to manage staff and carry out orders of the secretary of state

The pm appoints 20 senior ministers to form the cabinet Who review developments and looks at proposals from su8 committees and decides policies

They decide the important issues in parliament and decide the main points of a new law and when the decision is the made the cabinet must support it

Legislation

Government and private members bills are both public and private whereas private bills apply to a particular areas and organisations

A bill can start at the house of commons of lords and then passes on to other houses then it needs the royal assent before it can become a law

Diversity

Different eg a diversity in culture race or ethnicity

Prejudice A preconceived opinion that is not based on an actual experience or reason

Discrimination the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, for example race, age, or sex:

Racism Think that one race is superior to another race

Community cohesionWhat brings together a community for example multicultural society is like community cohesion because different races come together for a bond or create a community where people help each other

Migration is going from one country

to another for various factors

Refugee A little to no choice to move to a different country because of political reasons war unsafety and danger but has got the application to say yes and got the full refugee status

Asylum seeker Needs an application to move to a different country and trying to get the full refugee status because of political reasons persecution war or in danger

These are the statistics for 2014 and 2015 for refugees and migrants arriving by sea in europe
