“Then followed that beautiful season...Summer...filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape lay as if new created in all the freshness of
childhood.”
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Through a State of Maryland grant program, we were able to purchase several iPads for use
by our residents and guests. These iPads can be used
to play games, search the internet, or video chat with
loved ones. If you would like to borrow an iPad, please contact
someone in Activities.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we believe we have been able to get the TVs working properly. Our Maintenance Supervisor Joe was finally able to speak with the correct people and get the proper directions to be able to change your TV’s programming. He and his staff went through the whole building and changed everyone’s TV to the correct channels. If your TV is a black rimmed TV on the wall, your Daily news channel is #2 and your Movie channel is #66. If you have a silver rimmed TV on the wall, your Daily news channel is #00 and your Movie channel is #64. We apologize that everyone’s is not the same, but different models of TVs re-program slightly differently.
See insert for a complete list and brief description of all movies being shown in July.
The Silver Reader Library Service is back July 15th! They are starting with a Drop-and-go
program. They will start bringing books, movies, and music to our residents who would like
to have them. To get started, tell someone in Activities what types of books
you would like to borrow, such as Mystery, Romance, Westerns, Thrillers,
Non Fiction, History, or Biography Books– basically anything that you can
get from the Library can also be brought to you.
One stipulation is you must have a library card. If you do not have a library
card you may request one from this service.
Reminder: just as if you were picking the books up from the library
yourself you must care for them while they are in your possession. You will
be billed for any damaged books returned to the library under your name. In other words, do
not use the books as a coaster for your water. Please, always read your books with clean
hands as nobody wants to read a sticky book. Don’t lend your books to any other person. You
are responsible for all loss and damage to that book. Thank you for trying your best not to
damage the books. Happy reading!
The Activity Department is now taking donations of quality DVDs that are in good shape but
are not “X” rated. Now that we are playing movies on channel # 66/64 each month we need a
large assortment of DVDs to choose from. We are looking for Comedies, Dramas, Musicals, TV
shows, Documentaries, Light Hearted Horrors, kid’s Halloween shows, and Oldies, including
some black and whites. We do not have the ability to play VHS tapes, only DVDs, so please do
not include them in your donation. Any of these DVDs would be a help to boost our library of
movies. If we receive duplicates we will donate them to another facility or donation center.
Thank you for your help!

With Father’s Day last month, we asked a
few residents to share favorite memories of
their fathers. Here’s what they said:
~ Judy remembers her dad always giving “bear
hugs.” He also used to chase her mom around the
house with a rubber mouse in jest.
~ Ruth bonded with her father when she helped
him paint the house.
~ Bob worked with his father often and learned
everything from him. He taught him to be able to do anything with his hands.
~ Jean said her father went skiing at 100 years old! He was also very smart.
~ Becky said hers is a “good dad.” One memory that makes her laugh is, after her
dad had hidden eggs around the yard for Easter, one got left in the tailpipe of their
van and she remembers him driving away and suddenly hearing a loud pop!
~ Carole cherishes her memories of taking cross country trips with her father and
family. She remembers in humor that her dad used to take a big watermelon, eat out
the middle, and give the outside to her mom. He also helped to build the harbor
tunnel. In fact Carole was the first person to go in it!
~ Chris loved going to Baltimore Blast indoor soccer games with his father. They had
season tickets.
Need fresh air? Talk to someone in Activities to set
up a time for some courtyard sittin’!
(Be sure to check the air quality and heat index first– a code orange or red means you’ll
need to stay inside!)
Bowling is a favorite among our Tidewater friends!

Dad Jokes!
When does a joke become a
dad joke? When it is full groan!
Dad: I don’t trust those trees over there. Son: Why? Dad: They look a little shady.

The prize cart for Horse Racing comes around the last Wednesday of the month (the 28th in July) so you can spend your winning tickets on
something you need or like!
Staff, please help the residents keep
track of their tickets. If you
come across small pieces of colored
paper with numbers on them, don’t throw them out! Please put
them somewhere that’s easy to
access and let the resident know!
