Located in Adelaide’s west, the City of Charles Sturt continues to evolve and grow ensuring that it is a vibrant and attractive City for people to live, work and visit.
Western Adelaide has over $7.2 Billion (B) in major projects underway or in the pipeline, including:• Adelaide Airport Expansion $ 2 B• Bowden Village $ 1 B• AAMI Stadium $1 B• Industrial and Commercial $1/2 B.

The City of Charles Sturt is in the heart of Western Adelaide between the City and the Sea. Charles Sturt enjoys the competitive advantage of being extremely well located to Adelaide’s transport corridors, while adjacent to the CBD. Transport assets that connect to Charles Sturt are the Port, Outer Harbor, Adelaide Airport, the Northern Expressway and the Upgrade of South Road. In addition, the City is serviced by two railway lines, a tram line to the City and numerous bus and bikeways.

The Australian and South Australian Governments are funding over $1.5 billion to enhance the North South road corridor. This project, along with the recently completed South Road Superway, will improve linkages between Port Adelaide, industrial and commercial zones, Adelaide Airport and southern Adelaide.

Soccer/Football
Coopers Stadium is one of Australia’s top soccer venues. It is home of soccer in South Australia hosting A League side Adelaide United in Hindmarsh. It is also used by the NRL to host Australian and overseas teams.
Basketball
The BASA Arena at Beverley is a privately owned multi-purpose stadium and is currently the home of the Adelaide 36ers and Adelaide Lightning Basketball teams.
Australian Rules
AAMI Stadium was built in 1974 to host Australian Rules football matches and is the home training ground of one of Adelaide’s two national football teams the Adelaide Crows.

In 2013 Council endorsed an Economic Development Strategy and a Digital Economy Strategy. The Strategies provide renewed impetus for the City of Charles Sturt to support business, encourage investment and a positive business environment. Council has employed an Economic Development Coordinator to ensure that Council has the business community’s issues and views in mind when advocating to State, Federal and International decision makers.

Strategic networking - Western Business Leaders
Council is working with key business leaders in Western Adelaide through the Western Business Leaders Group, conducting business breakfasts and industry based forums aimed at facilitating opportunities for businesses to connect and grow.
Employment Lands – Council will undertake a zoning review of industrial lands with the aim of increasing flexibility, engaging with land owners and operators, and improving infrastructure.
Main Street Redevelopment – Council works closely with traders to improve our mainstreets. Two business associations have been established at Henley Beach and Woodville. Henley Square is part of an $8 million redevelopment, while

Woodville Road will become the new heart of the City with a $4 million upgrade. Queen Street, Croydon remains Adelaide’s leading vintage and alternative shopping precinct.
Digital Hub – Council owns and operates a digital hub that offers structured training and development to assist SME’s to maximise their digital capabilities.
