Floodplain Information

Information on whether your property is in the 100-year floodplain can be obtained at City Hall. The Building Inspector, Community Development Director, City Clerk or City Administrator can help you. Maps are available to look at, as well as, other flood-related information. The City also maintains elevation certificates for construction in 2009 and newer.

*If you are building in the floodplain, purchase of flood insurance is mandatory if using a federally regulated/

insured bank for a loan.

Tax Bills & Lottery Credit

City of Evansville taxes are collected by the Rock County Treasurer’s Office between the hours

of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday. Their offices, as well as City offices, will be closed for the

following holidays: Tuesday, Dec. 24th and Wednesday, Dec. 25th and Wednesday, Jan. 1st.

Full or first installment payments are due on or before January 31, 2020. Checks must be made payable to the Rock County Treasurer and mailed to: 51 S Main Street, Janesville, WI 53545-3951. Include the top portion of your tax bill with your payment. Please reference your parcel number on any correspondence. Payment can be made by check, money order, or pay by Credit Card or Electronic Check using GovTech Services on the Rock County website, charges apply. Go to www.co.rock.wi.us/ and click on Treasurer to begin the process.

*If you are requesting a receipt, please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

You may claim the lottery and gaming credit for 2019 taxes, payable in 2020, if on January 1, 2019, you were the owner of the property and used that property as your primary residence. If you are eligible for a lottery credit and it does not appear on your tax statement, please contact the City Clerk’s Office for an application or visit revenue.wi.gov.

2019 Taxes Payable in 2020

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

The City of Evansville has a housing program called The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) that offers 0% interest deferred payment loans to eligible households for repairs to their home. The loan can be used to make the following types of repairs: Handicap Accessibility, Electrical, Plumbing, Heating and Other General Repairs. Go to the city’s website for full details.

2020 Animal Licenses

According to State Statute and City of Evansville Ordinance 2015-01, all dogs, cats and exotic animals must be licensed annually. 2020 licenses are available after December 16, 2019. Licenses can be applied for at the City Clerk’s Office. A current rabies certificate and proof of distemper vaccination from your Veterinarian is required when applying for the license. Fees are as follows:

Unaltered Animals $15.00 Spayed or Neutered $ 8.00 Exotic Animals $ 8.00 Licensed Boarder $75.00 *Late fee applied after April 1st.

According to City Ordinance, a fine may be imposed by our Police Dept if an unlicensed animal is picked-up

and held at our local pound.

Reserve Park Shelters & Athletic Fields Fields must be reserved and paid for separately. Rental of one does not automatically result in the use of the other. Reservations can be made beginning January 1 of each year. The rental fee must be received by the City Clerk’s Office to hold the reservation. The fees are:

A $100 refundable bond is required for all shelter rentals. This bond will be returned when the shelter passes a cleanup inspection by the Park Custodian.

TRASH & RECYCLING DAY FOR ALL RESIDENTS IS NOW

Advanced Disposal is our refuse and recycling provider.

The City of Evansville is on the cart system with Advanced

Disposal. Cart sizes are 35, 64 or 96 gallon. You will

receive one cart for refuse and one cart for recycling.

They have to be the same size. If you do not have carts

for your property, please call the City Clerk’s Office.

*All Appliance requests must be scheduled and paid

for in advance to Advanced Disposal.

Appliance items shall be limited to items such as stoves,

washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers,

humidifiers, dehumidifiers and air-conditioning units.

Much of the departments focus is in the repair and maintenance of our existing structure be it playground equipment, roads, sewer lines or city buildings. If you notice something needing attention please call us immediately.

Brush/Yard Waste Pick-Up

Brush/Yard waste pick up is done from April through October, and occurs during the first full non-holiday week of each month. Yard waste must be on the terrace and brush must be stacked in bundles no longer than 6’ and placed at the curb. No yard waste or brush shall be placed in the street. The Public Works employees will make only one pass through the City each month.

For your convenience the City also has a Brush/Yard Waste Drop-site and Electronics Dumpster for city residents at no charge. Non-city residents may purchase a permit at City Hall.

A list of the most common electronic devices are as follows: Consumer computers, Computer peripherals (i.e. keyboards, mouse, etc...), Televisions and other video display devices, Fax machines, VCRs and DVD players, Consumer printers, Phones with video displays (i.e. cell phones).

Winter Parking

From November 30th to April 1st each year, winter parking regulations are strictly enforced between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Between these hours, your vehicle should be parked on the side of the street consistent with the date. For example, from 1:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. on odd days, your vehicle should be parked on the odd side of the street; on even days, it should be parked on the even side. If you park your car at the end of the day before midnight, remember to anticipate the date change that will occur at midnight.

Hours vary and inspections are done by appointment only. Informational packets are

available in the Police Dept lobby.

Motor Vehicle Registration and Licensing

Vehicle title, registration and/or registration renewal services for walk-in customers. Plates or stickers are given to the customer upon completion of the transaction. Titles are printed and mailed from the WI Dept. of Transportation. These services are available during office hours.

Prescription Drug Drop-Off

A permanent drop-off box to provide citizens of Rock County with an easy, secure and responsible way to dispose of unused, unwanted and expired prescription drugs is available 24/7 at the entrance to the police department.

Vacation Watch

Citizens of Evansville may request a security check be conducted of their residence while they are away on vacation. A form can be obtained at the Evansville Police Department or on the city’s website to request this service.

Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center 360 Burr W Jones Cir | 882-2276 The Evansville swimming pool is open to the public during the summer months, fully equipped with locker rooms, showers, highly-trained lifeguards, a zero-depth entry area for young children and inexperienced swimmers, tubes, a diving board and two slides.

Evansville Youth Center 209 S First St | 882-0372

The Evansville Youth Center is a monitored, safe, active place for students grades 5-8. The center is open every school day unless the school cancels for inclement weather. The center is not open during the summer. A snack is provided each day and a calendar of activities is set up for each month. Activities that are available throughout the center are pool, ping-pong, foosball, air hockey, gaming systems, computers, videos on a large screen TV, board games and crafting area.

Maple Hill Cemetery

Important Dates: Removal of Winter Décor – April 15th 2020

Removal of Summer Décor – November 11th 2020

Maple Hill Cemetery currently covers 32 acres, with future expansion of 16 acres on the south side. At present, there are approximately 15,000 burials on record. The cemetery Sexton is a Public Works employee and all records pertaining to the cemetery are maintained at City Hall. Recently, the cemetery added a columbarium, an above-ground repository for cremated individuals. For information pertaining to cemetery sales and records please contact City Hall.
