May, 2018: A new glass recycling e�ort (bottles and jars only)

Every ton of glass bottles and jars recycled with our new program saves the city $190. Every resident who can deposit a few bottles in our containers will be helping.

Please recycle GLASS Bottles & Jars by taking them to one the new drop-o� points in the city:

DIAPERSDiapers are trash. Keep diapers out of recycling barrels.

WHITE FOAM CUPSAll white foam plastic drinking cups are trash.

PLASTIC GROCERY BAGSPlastic grocery bags are not to be put in your recycling barrel. Plastic bags should either be recycled at your grocery store or put in with the trash.

TRASH All trash needs to be in closed plastic trash bags, especially food waste. Clean trash carts do not attract pests.

FOOD & FOOD WRAPPERSFood and food wrappers are trash.

TIRESTires should be taken to any tire retail store or the Susquehanna Resource Man-agement Complex (the Incinerator). A fee of up to $3.00 will be charged per car tire. Elderly or infirm residents should call the Harrisburg Deptartment of Public Works for assistance with tires: 717-412-4320.

OLD TELEVISIONSPlease take old TVs to the Dauphin County Recycling Center at 1625 South Cameron Street, along with any other unwanted home electron-ics. The county will dispose of the items correctly FREE OF CHARGE. Do not put TVs outside your home, or anywhere else where trash does not belong. Elderly or infirm residents should call the Harrisburg Deptart-ment of Public Works for assistance with tires: 717-412-4320.

Cartons: milk, wine, soup, juice boxes (please rinse and crush, remove straws)Plastic Bottles—please remove lids, capsPlastic food containers, labeled with numbers 1 through 7Yogurt, cottage cheese, margarine tubsAluminum cans and bottles (please crush to make more room)Tin cans (please rinse)Paper: • cereal and similar food boxes (please remove liners) • paper packaging • copier paper (any color) • newspaper • phonebooks • magazines and catalogs • advertising mail • paper egg cartons • cardboard boxes (Please remove all packing materia from cardboard boxes, unless it’s made of paper. If you have large or numerous boxes, please flatten them out and tie them together.) • paperback books (to recycle hard-cover books, remove the cover (place in trash) and recycle the pages.

STAPLES, PAPER CLIPS & RUBBER BANDS DO NOT NEED TO BE REMOVED FROM THE PAPER.

Please put shredded paper in the trash.

PLEASE THROW THESE IN THE TRASH: • All GLASS that is not bottles and jars (see below) • Ceramics (china, mugs, clay pots) • Diapers • Food waste and all food wrappers, plastic and paper. • Any paper or plastic that is wet or staine with food. • Tissue paper (napkins, paper towels, etc.) • Shipping or padded envelopes • Shredded paper • All plastic packaging material (foam peanuts, bubble wrap) • Wax-coated cardboard (usually bulk food packaging) • Old Aluminum foil • Clothing hangers (o�er these to your dryclea er) • Plastic tableware--knives, forks and spoons • Paper or plastic plates, bowls and cups • Light bulbs of all types • Christmas lights, extension cords • Garden hoses • Plastic bags—these can go in the trash, but most area grocery stores have recycling bins for clean, dry plastic bags
