This month the City launches a new free community festival, Hello Manning. The festival will be held at Manning Community Centre and James Miller Oval, 4-9pm, Saturday 30 March 2019 and 10am-3pm, Sunday 31 March 2019. The two day celebration will feature live music and entertainment, unique art experiences, activations by local community groups and businesses, and a family outdoor movie night. There’ll be family-friendly games and activity zones including a teen chillout zone. A selection of food trucks will be accompanied by the Hello Manning long table luncheon tent, and don’t miss the unique temporary art installations including Andy Faraday’s Dark Truck interactive Unselfie Project and ANTaR’s (Aboriginal andTorres Strait Islander advocacy organisation) Sea of Hands project. Event parking is available on Manning Primary School oval for a gold coin donation. Proceeds go to the Manning Primary Parents’ & Friends’ Association. To celebrate Bike Week, ride your bike to the event and check it in to our bike valet service. The City is inviting you to share your ideas for the proposed Recreation and Aquatic Facility (RAF). To have your say and vote for your favourite suggestions visit yoursay.southperth.wa.gov.au A sustainable solution for Neil McDougall Lake The City has developed a preliminary Water Sensitive Urban Design to provide a long-term, sustainable solution to manage nutrient levels in Neil McDougall Lake in Como. The lake experiences an almost yearly reccurrence of a dense Lemna (duckweed) mat that covers the lake. Blue-green algae blooms are also noted at the Lake when naturally occurring blue-green algae multiply quickly and dominate the water column. A drop-in session will be held at Neil McDougall Park from 4-6pm, Thursday 7 March to inform the community about the preliminary design. Canning Bridge Activity Centre Plan review open for feedback Do you live near Canning Bridge? The City is reviewing the Canning Bridge Activity Centre Plan (CBACP) and wants to hear from you. Since 2016 the CBACP has been guiding development in the 800 metres radius surrounding the Canning Bridge train station on both sides of the Canning River. There are a number of ways to get involved in the review and share your feedback. Visit yoursay.southperth. wa.gov.au to find out more. Feedback closes 4pm, Friday 12 April 2019. Call out for Manning Place Makers The City is seeking volunteers to join the Manning Place Makers group to transform the Manning Community Centre into a vibrant local hub through place-making principles and activities. Anyone who lives, works or recreates in Manning and the surrounding area are invited to get involved in making the outdoor public space a well-used and much-loved local place.
