At this point we are unsure when the budget will be tabled. Mayor indicates he is waiting for financial confirmations from the Province. Regardless, it has to be tabled and passed by March 31st and the entire process takes about three weeks.

Honestly, I find it astounding that Roads/Infrastructure are what Winnipeggers feel will improve their quality of life in Winnipeg. Roads!

Budget related are priorities with significant funding requirements.Not budget related priorities are actions that are educational, or not requiring large funding requirements. Often Councillor ward funding will support these priorities. A hand out is provided.
For purposes of the Budget discussion, we will focus on budget related priorities.

Downward decline• Waverley West has twice the amount of greenspace than any other neighbourhood in
Wpg – but constant decline of maintenance funding. Every year I ask for more funding for parks and greenspace maintenance. Always declined.
2019 forward:• 181 additional hectares are anticipated to be added• Of which 100 will be from Prairie Pointe & Bridgwater Trails

This funding is in the budget –The elementary and high schools are aiming to be open in 2021There are many discussions occurring to work towards a shared use facility – where the high school is attached to either a large gymnasium, a pool or a library. A share use facility provides value for money -This is a new concept to many of the partners and there is some resistance – and fear of ‘downloading’ responsibilities. Cities across North America are building shared use facilities.
