The cart station, introduced in version 1.2.0, allows you to createminiature transportation networks within your city.

Carts are gondola-like vehicles which move along tracksreminiscent of monorails (however there are two tracks to allowvehicles to pass either way).

You can place them by finding both the cart station and cart trackin the Government build category.

Cart track must be placed side-by-side at the same height level. If cart track is raised (with the grey foundation strip above ground)then the cart station must also be raised.

It is possible to create dual cart tracks by variating height (photoabove).

Carts will disappear once they reach another cart station. Carts willonly deploy on sides where there is track. Make sure you close off your track with a cart station or you may experience derailment.

WARNING: Carts will automatically deploy once track is connectedto the side of a cart station. Do not add the final connecting pieceof track until ready OR add the cart stations when you are done.

Cities made in City Sandbox rely on several core elements to

survive when played in classic mode. These are:

Power (NW) -- the amount of power available, minus the current usage,

generated by government buildings that output power

Water (NL) -- the amount of water available, minus the current usage,

generated by government buildings that output water

Population (pop) -- the current population of the city, increased by residentialbuildings

Peace (PE) -- the level of civil unrest, negated by depressing structures, and

improved by desirable structures (and also influenced by some government

    buildings)

Mood (MO) -- the mood of the population, influenced by some buildings and

certain game features (such as the curfew option in the civil defense menu)which mainly affects the peace level

Technology (TE / tech) -- the level of technology in a city, allowing for the

unlocking of new buildings, which may increase randomly per month (and is

    influenced by industrial buildings)

Jobs -- jobs are increased by placement of commercial buildings. They are not

listed on the interface as a statistic, but can be viewed when you open up thecity information (by clicking on the box in the top right). Jobs affect peace and

    mood levels.

Power and water are required for buildings to function. Withouteither of these requirements, buildings will not fulfill their promisedpurpose as described in the build catalogue.

Population and mood affects peace levels. The size of thepopulation determines how strong negative affects are on the city.

For example, a depressing building may strongly upset apopulation of 50 people, but the impact would be watered down ina city of 500 where issues are less likely to influence averagehappiness.

Jobs will affect the mood levels. As a rule, only 70-80% of the

population really needs to have the opportunity to work in your city.

Peace represents the overall civility of your city. If it drops below-15%, you risk riots from a disgruntled society.

Each building influences jobs, peace, pop, and mood uniquely.

Buildings may also cost your city, or fund your city in tax dollars. You must make careful balanced decisions as to what structuresyou create and when you build them.

Be careful with your selections, as bad strategy can lead to ruin.

Once a city goes broke, it will be unable to recover. You willeventually lose the game.

Technology (TE) in City Sandbox is a system that allows for unlocking of new buildings.

In classic mode, you will start out with a tech level of 5. In sandboxmode, the tech level is set to allow for all buildings to be unlocked.

Tech level can be earned each month by chance as societyprogresses. The more industrial buildings you place increases thechance of a new tech level point being earned this way. By default, the likelihood is very low. Industrial buildings only serve thispurpose well when placed in bulk.

It is possible to build a research center (in the Governmentcategory) however these buildings are expensive and fragile indisasters. This method will guarantee tech level points over alonger period of time, in bulk.

Some buildings allow for immediate increase in tech levels as a

special ability. These may be dependent on the building existing, however, unlike the other methods which provided a permanentincrease.

Overall, you dont have to invest in ways to increase tech level, butyou will severely stunt progress in your city if you dont. Buildingsthat require a higher tech level are generally more efficient andbeneficial, and are less likely to get damaged in disasters.

City Sandbox has several disasters. Some of these can occur naturally in classic mode, or can be induced in the novelty toolsmenu . The other disasters may occur due to human error.

    Earthquake

Causes buildings to suffer damage or collapse. After the initialearthquake, any number of smaller aftershocks can occur causingmore damage. Cheaper buildings are more prone to damage.Once the alarms stop sounding, the earthquake disaster is over and repair can begin.

This is the most destructive disaster in City Sandbox.

    Asteroid

An asteroid-turned-meteorite causes a rock to fall from the sky, sometimes large (causing widespread destruction from a shockwave) or small (causing direct destruction on what it lands on).

The meteorite can damage buildings if it touches them even before

    it has landed.

    Riot

A riot can occur only in classic mode, when the peace level fallsbelow -15% or when power and water resources are strangled.

A crowd of people will begin walking through the city with picketsigns, randomly leaving a trail of rubbish that will further negate thepeace level. The rubbish must be cleared using the demolition tool.Though impractical, it may also be removed using the DivineMission novelty tool.

A riot can occur each month, and can end up a costly expense if improperly handled. If not controlled quickly, it can cause financialruin to a city.

    Cart Derailment

Cart derailment occurs when a cart, deployed from a cart station, drives off of the tracks and crashes to the ground. It does notcause any surrounding damage, but will upset peace levels. Cartderailment can occur on accident (when the player is building andlinks the track to a cart station too early) or in a larger disaster if the track becomes damaged.

All crashed carts must be removed before cart stations will beginre-deploying vehicles.

    Pedestrian Inflator

Allows you to click on pedestrian NPCs to temporarily make themfloat in the air.

Melon Spawner Allows you to spawn melons from the sky, which may destroybuildings that come into contact with them. The melon will remainexploded after it has landed, and can be removed with thedemolition tool.

    Earthquake Inducer

    Causes an earthquake to happen.

Asteroid MagnetCauses an asteroid to enter the atmosphere.

    Flying Bathtub

The flying bathtub is the only controllable vehicle in the game. Byclicking and holding, the bathtub can be controlled around themap. It can not be landed, and will crash if it comes into contact

with the ground. The wreckage can be removed with the demolitiontool.

    Divine Mission

Deploys a holy figure to temporarily walk the streets of your city, accompanied by a yellow glow and a beam of light. The figure canperform magic tricks on water supplies, and will clean up litter leftby riots, crashed carts, exploded melons, and other street mess.
