This is a great opportunity for our community to celebrate the many positive influences the Hispanic community has on this nation and this state of Florida. The increasing immigration debate, and the rhetoric that has ensued because of it, has led to rising tensions in race relations involving the Latino community. That political rhetoric, which even takes place all around the state, has caused many Latinos to feel left out and not part of the community.The Washington County Minority Coalition, is calling all in the community to take a stand towards bridging the racial gap. Hispanic Heritage Month is Sept. 15 to Oct.15. They suggest using this time to celebrate and learn about the rich Latino culture and history that is a part of our nation’s history.The WCMC is asking the community to take this time to reach out to your Hispanic neighbors, take an interest in their culture, and perhaps allow them to teach you more about their history and culture. There’s a reason we have Hispanic Heritage Month. Latino culture is rich with a variety of positive aspects, including rich language, food, history, dances, music, and so much more. This truly is an opportunity to set aside politics and the immigration debate to work towards bridging a racial gap. CELEBRANDO LA HERENCIA HISPANA ESTE MES

De acuerdo a la Revista CNNMoney, la ciudad de Weston ha clasificado en el puesto # 63 en la lista de las mejores ciudades pequeñas de los Estados Unidos.

La Ciudad de Weston ha sido galardonada con el prestigioso reconocimiento de ser uno de los mejores lugares para vivir por la revista Money Magazine 2012.

Según el artículo de CNNMoney: “Estas pequeñas ciudades fabulosas ofrecen lo que las familias estadounidenses toman más en cuenta acerca de las grandes oportunidades de trabajo, grandes escuelas, crimen bajo, atención médica de calidad, y mucho que hacer. Y son verdaderas comunidades también”.

Los líderes de la ciudad están muy contentos ya que este reconocimiento viene recibiéndose desde el mes de octubre de 2011. El Businessweek clasifica a Weston como la ciudad con el mercado de la vivienda n º 1, a nivel nacional a partir de febrero 2009 a agosto 2011.

Sólo tres municipios del estado de Florida lograron entrar en el ranking Top 100: La Ciudad de Weston, alcanzo el puesto número 63, la ciudad de Riverview ocupó el # 65, y la ciudad de Coral Springs, el puesto número 94.

The City of Weston has been awarded the prestigious recognition of being one of Money Magazine’s Best Places to Live 2012.

Per the CNNMoney article, “These terrific small cities offer what American families care about most -- strong job opportunities, great schools, low crime, quality health care, and plenty to do. And they’re true communities too”.

City leaders are thrilled as this recognition comes on the heels of the October 2011 Businessweek ranking of Weston as the #1 Nationwide Housing Market from February 2009 to August 2011.

Only three cities in the State of Florida made the top 100 ranking: The City of Weston, ranked #63; the City of Riverview, Florida ranked #65, and the City of Coral Springs, ranked #94.

The ranking takes into account factors including financial, housing, education, quality of life, leisure and culture and weather. A synopsis along with the statistics provides:“Weston boasts a 42,500-square-foot YMCA, an extensive network of bike paths, two 18-hole golf courses, well-known local athletic leagues, and the sunny (but humid) Florida weather necessary to enjoy them throughout the year. The city’s affluent residents are so devoted to their outdoor activities that many aspects of Weston’s community life, like the athletic leagues, are run by volunteers. The downside comes when it’s time to focus on work: Residents face a lengthy commute to Fort Lauderdale and Miami”.

This park is located on the northeast corner of Indian Trace with Three Village road. It is an 8.16 acre neighborhood park, with a playground, exercise, fishing dock, bike path, waterfront setting, among other features. Peace Mound Park has been addressed to assure accessibility for all and Americans with Disabilities (ADA) compliance, as the City has been systematically reviewing all of its other facilities since few years ago. According to the City of Weston’s information, a meeting with the Tequesta HOA has been held on June 20, 2012, and the City staff made a presentation. Notice of the meeting was done by the HOA.

Peace Mound Park, particularly due to the existing topography, has many accessibility challenges, including parking, walkways, and play areas which necessitate modifications to the existing one. In order to overcome these challenges, parking areas will need to have handicap parking stalls meeting grade, slope, and striping requirements; walkways will need to meet grade and cross slope requirements; play areas will need to meet equipment and surface requirements.

Many trees will be affected in several different ways. The very large trees will remain in place, and where needed, tree wells will be constructed around them to accommodate adjacent topographic modifications. Some of them will be temporarily relocated off site during construction and replaced on site upon completion of the topographic modifications. Trees that are weak, damaged, diseased, and/or may pose a risk to park visitors will be permanently removed consistent with City and county tree preservation codes.

Many new trees will be planted. Three Village Road between Indian Trace and the Tequesta gatehouse is a public right of way owned and maintained by the City of Weston.The existing eight space parking lot will be removed. A new 11 space (nine spaces plus two handicap spaces) parking lot will be constructed to the south. Two parallel parking segments will be constructed on Three Village Road in the same manner as the City constructed on Country Isles Road adjacent to Country Isles Park, all with brick pavers.

This parking configuration will eliminate grass swale parking, and the resultant damage and poor appearance caused by such parking, and enable park visitors to park near their destination of the Indian mound, the fishing bridge, and the play area. A total of 28 parking spaces will be provided. No restroom will be constructed.

The City is working directly with the original archaeological expert who worked with Arvida when the park was developed to assure that the site is preserved. New interpretive plaques will be included to educate park visitors as to the historical value and importance of the Indian burial ground.

The two existing shelters will be removed and replaced with one shelter approximately 30’ x 30’ feet that will provide refuge from sun and rain, and a space for picnics accommodating four picnic tables. The old, outdated play equipment and surface will be replaced with ADA compliant equipment and surface, along with fabric cover, as has been provided in the City’s other parks.

The existing elevations and contours will be modified on site to be less severe so as to accommodate accessibility for all and ADA compliance. There will be no net loss of fill.

Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2013 and it will take approximately 9 months to complete. In order to reduce construction time, the pruning of some of the trees’ roots may start sooner to ensure their survival once relocated to their final destination.

Weston, FL - Craig Romney, son of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, and State Representative for the republicans, Anitere Flores, addressed a group of Hispanic entrepreneurs in Weston, FL on September 6th, during a free event, organized by The Hispanic Coalition team and hosted by Jose Miguel Padrón, a real estate broker based in Weston, who brought together more than 60 local entrepreneurs, to support the Republican Party candidate and his campaign.

The attending group, mostly business people, shared their concerns about the lack of liquidity in their businesses and their difficulty in accessing credit and financial aid. Craig shared thoughts on different options with the attendees, agreeing with them on the importance of giving priority to the granting of aid for small and medium sized businesses.

During an exclusive interview with Ciudad Weston Newspaper, by the editor Evelyn Alcala-Salwswach, Craig Romney, a 31 year old young man with Latino features, talked about his father Mitt Romney as a man, a family leader and as a politician:

How do you describe the responsibility to represent your father before the Hispanic voters?

“I assumed this challenge of representing my father in his campaign to get the Hispanic Support, because I want to help him, because I believe in him and know that with his skill and experience in the private sector, he can lead this country in the right direction”.

Craig, describes his father as an honest man with character, a man of family values and faith, who seeks to strengthen the American dream. During the meeting, he accentuated that his father is a successful business man, well prepared, and one that is sure to recover the economy of our country if elected President.

Craig has visited many groups of Hispanic voters particularly in California and Florida, encouraging young people to vote. He has learned many of the concerns currently facing this growing community, particularly the lack of jobs in the current economy, and the frustration of the graduating youths with no job prospects after years of spending their time and money studying at colleges and universities. He quoted, “It is not a responsibility, and it is rather a privilege to represent my father during his campaign”.

Craig learned Spanish during his two year study as a Mormon missionary in Chile, where he learned the Latino culture and his love for the Latin gastronomy.

What have you learned from your visits to the Hispanic communities? What do you tell your father at the end of the day? The biggest concern that Craig will share with his father about the demands of the voters will be the emphasis of accelerating the granting of loans to the small entrepreneurs in the United

States, helping them to open their business. Besides the political concerns of your father, what do you do when you have time to share?

“I see my father now more than ever. Whenever I speak to my father, I don’t like to speak about

politics, we enjoy family time, because he likes to spend time with the family and has a very good sense of humor”, he said.” If I advise him, it would be that there is a priority, and that is that there is no money for new business to open. However, I am confident that he knows how to make this work. He will do it. When he asks for some advice, I give it to him. He listens; he is open when he makes a decision. He studies each of the cases, he analyzes them.”

Speaking about the diagnosis given to his mother, Ann Romney, who is suffering from multiple sclerosis, the Romney candidate now faces a new challenge. Craig told EFE on August 28, in an interview published by FOX News Latino, that “it has been a difficult

experience for our family, and my father, but my mother is a fighter and she is fighting the disease”.

If your father wins, will you hold some position in the Government?

Craig, the youngest son of Mitt Romney, who

is married and father of two children, and who has become kind of an Ambassador to his father to the Latino voters in the United States, said that if his father wins the Presidency of the United States, next November 6, 2012, he would not hold any office in the Government but who would return to his normal life. “I don’t want any position in the Government if my father wins, because I want to go back to my life, working in the private sector, “I don’t want to be part of his administration, I work in the Real Estate business. This way I could see him more often, almost every couple of weeks and not every 6 months, and we could talk in our house, with our family, on the issues that concern the country. No need to be in government to give him and advice if needed, “he said.

Craig is the grandson of George Romney, an American born in Mexico, whom he admires very much, since his grandfather came to the United States with nothing, no education, no job and through hard work and determination became the CEO of American Motors Corporation, the Governor of Michigan and a contender for the 1968 Republican presidential nomination, “My grandfather lived the American dream”- he told EFE. After this interview, Craig left the room and he joined Jose M Padrón, Fabio Andrade, Humberto Collado, Claudia Miro, Alberto Rodriguez, Jessica Fernandez and Javier Cano from the Hispanic Coalition team, to visit El Arepazo, in Weston,FL, a Venezuelan food restaurant, to enjoy some “arepas” (corn bread).

Weston, FL - Craig Romney, hijo del candidato presidencial republicano Mitt Romney, se dirigió a un grupo de empresarios hispanos en Weston, Florida, el 6 de septiembre, durante un evento gratuito, organizado por el equipo de Coalición Hispana y conducido por Jose Miguel Padrón, un corredor de bienes raíces con oficinas en Weston. Lately, however, women have reason to question whether they are being heard. What we are hearing is men spouting off misinformation about issues that affect women’s pay, health, and families -- distortions that are difficult to correct when so few women hold leadership positions. That’s about to change. Thanks to a culture that is spurring rhetoric and equally outrageous legislation that try to silence women, we are again fighting for our voice. A historic number of women are running for Congress this year, and if elected, they will make a huge dent in our lack of political representation. No more will women have to put up with inflammatory statements like Rep. Todd Akin’s: “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.” His remark was just the latest shocking comment about women. Earlier this summer, Brian Kilmeade, co-host of the morning show Fox & Friends, said, “Women are everywhere. We’re letting them play golf and tennis now. It’s out of control.” And finally, Michigan state Rep. Wayne Schmidt likened the censure of his female colleague to “giving the kid a time out for a day.” Schmidt was referring to his fellow representative Lisa Brown, who was rebuked for using the word “vagina” during a floor debate on an abortion bill.

These quotes act as mute buttons, a way to control who is heard and respected in policy discussions. But we didn’t fight so hard for a voice to give it away so readily. Tired of nonsensical politics over their health care, their paychecks, and, yes, their birth control, women are taking their representation into their own hands. A record-breaking 154 women have received party nominations for U.S. House races this year, thanks in part to the efforts of numerous training programs across the country and the 2012 Project, a campaign that encouraged and supported women to run this cycle. (Its slogan: “Don’t get mad. Get elected.”) There’s also good news on the Senate side, where women could hold as many as 25 seats after this election, and the 18 women running have raised more than $135 million -- a sign that donors also believe in women candidates. We are also seeing more women under 40 running (supported by such groups as WUFPAC) who, if elected, can build seniority, master the issues, and become powerful congressional leaders. Such positive possibilities could not come at a better time. Over the last two decades, the number of national women lawmakers has increased, on average, by just two per year. At this rate, women won’t have equal representation in Congress until 2098.

The last time women made such a collective run for office -- 1992 -- the country had just watched a panel of congressmen humiliate Anita Hill on national television. On the sidelines, a line of women waited to testify on Hill’s behalf, to tell the nation of her credibility and courage. They were never called. The next election, 29 women joined Congress. This past February, Americans watched a similar scene. An all-male panel once again told a woman her voice didn’t matter, so Sandra Fluke sat in silence while five men discussed birth control.

Once again, Americans were not pleased. Baby boomers, who are rightly proud of their generation’s work to advance women, were horrified at the threat of turning back the clock. Younger women, who weren’t around for the first fight for reproductive rights, couldn’t believe that the topic was up for debate. But what angered people most -- regardless of generation, gender, or party line -- was the unsettling scene of women excluded. The large number of women running is a true signal that our leaders have failed to properly hear and amplify women’s perspectives. We won’t secure full parity in congressional representation this year, but the large number of women candidates will

sound a call no one can silence: The face of politics must change. We should certainly celebrate the power of a woman’s vote. But let’s also celebrate a woman’s voice and the fact that we can make ourselves heard every day -- not just every four years -- by supporting a sea change of leadership.

But it’s Romney’s statement that’s wrong—it’s a complete distortion. Here’s what the President actually said: “If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet. The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together.”

The President’s full remarks show that the “that” in “you didn’t build that” clearly refers to roads and bridges—public infrastructure we count on the government to build and maintain.

Romney can try to manipulate those words into a political attack, but the facts belie the smear: President Obama has continuously fought to help small businesses grow by cutting their taxes and making it easier for them to invest in American jobs. Here’s how:18 tax cuts for small businesses: The President signed 18 tax cuts to support small businesses, providing $200 billion in tax relief and incentives for America’s businesses over the last three years.

Record volume of small business loans last year: President Obama has also supported nearly $80 billion in loans to more than 150,000 small businesses since 2009, including a record volume last year.

Tax credits to support hiring: On top of the 18 tax cuts, President Obama wants to provide a 10% income tax credit for nearly 2 million businesses who hire new employees or raise wages. He also wants to extend 100 percent expensing for all businesses in 2012.

Researchers polled more than 6,000 small business owners, and the group of respondents closely mirrored the overall population in terms of gender, business size and business age. Responses were collected in the weeks following the president’s now infamous “you didn’t build that” comment but before it was used as a central theme of the Republican National Convention.

This latest poll stands in stark contrast to a similar one released a month ago by Manta, which showed Romney holding a comfortable lead over Obama among voters on Main Street.

By a landslide, the economy and job creation remain the most important variables for small business owners (cited by 40 percent of voters), followed by ethics, honesty and government corruption (13 percent).

Florida’s controversial attempt to screen voter rolls for non-U.S. citizens has yielded 207 voters who may not be eligible. While spending precious time and resources trying to unearth a possible 207 unlikely voters out of over 11 million in total, many media sources report that Florida is well behind its 2008 new voter registration numbers -- partly due to legislatively imposed obstacles on voter registration efforts.

This is a case of terribly mistaken priorities. With less than four weeks before the registration deadline, the League has volunteers across the state seeking to include all eligible voters, and a special website, www.BeReadyToVote.org, to help register, update and inform voters before Election Day.

Nevertheless, the likely impact of proposed tax changes on small businesses has been a major point of contention for both candidates on the campaign trail as the election heads into the final weeks.

Also singing were the kids and adolescents Cristina Campocasso, Clarissa Perez, Katherina Scuito, Maye Oscirio, Yasha Azevedo and Yosmauri Silva.

Throughout this production journey, 33 singers were taped, under the direction of

Este voluntariado musical con más de 70 personas 100% comprometidas con el proyecto de paz. “La Paz se logra con acciones, voluntades y compromiso, y éste es nuestro compromiso”, comentó Patricia Carlés, de la empresa PCARLES PRODUCTIONS., quien fue la creadora, productora y directora de esta iniciativa por la paz.

El Hispanic Women of Distinction es un evento que realiza cada año, para celebrar a la mujer hispana y su contribución a la comunidad en el sur de la Florida. El pasado 17 de Agosto, se celebro en el Signature Grand este gran evento, honrando a 12 mujeres lideres en su comunidad en el Sur de Florida.La pasarela de 120 pies de largo fue recorrida por las homenajeadas incluyendo un show de moda ofrecido por las Tiendas Colonnade del Sawgrass. El coctel comenzó con un trago “mojito “complementario, música latina y expositores de distintos negocios.Ciudad Weston Newspaper se siente muy orgullosos de promover este tipo de eventos dirigido a la mujer Hispana, organizado por la talentosa Elaine Vasquez, quien agradeció también a más de veinte patrocinantes que apoyaron y promovieron este evento totalmente vendido, especialmente al patrocinante Mercedes Benz de Fort Lauderdale. Quien dono los fondos de la primera beca Anual estudiantil “Erwin M. Vasquez”en honor a su esposo fallecido. Los fondos servirán para asegurar durante el año que otros estudiantes reciban apoyo para continuar su educación y así devolverle a la comunidad con un beneficio.Una vez más, dos miembros de la organización Mujeres Latinas Impulsando Mujeres Latinas, fueron reconocidas esa noche, por su loable labor a la comunidad. The first membership meeting of AAUW Weston for the year 2012 – 2013 took place on Saturday September 15, 2012 at a luncheon at Lirio’s restaurant. Thirty two members were present. Dr. Kamala Anandam, president, AAUW Weston welcomed the group. Six members who have stayed with the branch five years were honored. They were: Robin Bartleman, Mercedes Henriksson, Renee Smoley, Sharon Argov, Ruth Jacobson and Marcia Kupferberg. Kamala also recognized members who had received the honor of Hispanic Women of Distinction. They were Yvonne Salas and Sandra Ramon in 2012 and in previous years, Mercedes Henriksson, Linda Gomez and Ana Valladres. Kamala also mentioned the significant contribution made by Evelyn Alcala-Salswach, Editor, Ciudad Weston in spreading the word about AAUW and AAUW Weston. Robin Bartleman, Broward County School Board member spoke about the importance of mentoring in public schools. Kamala announced that AAUW Weston and Mujeres Latinas IML are planning to launch a mentoring program in one middle school with guidance from Laurie Levinson, Broward County School Board member.

The Hispanic Women of Distinction “Charity Luncheon” took place on Aug. 17 at the Signature Grand located in Davie. The event honored 12 Latin women for their contributions to the South Florida community.The 120-foot runway, was strutted by the honorees including a fashion show by the Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass Mills. The cocktail hour begun with a complimentary “mojito” for the attendance, Latin entertainment and a sponsor business exhibit. Ciudad Weston Newspaper was so proud to promote this amazing event, held by Hispanic Women of Distinction leaded by Elaine Vasquez, who thanked more than twenty sponsors for their support and promotion of this SOLD OUT event, and specially to the Silver Sponsor Mercedes Benz of Fort Lauderdale who donated the funds for the 1st annual Erwin M. Vasquez MD Scholarship. The funds will be matched throughout the year to ensure other students receive the support to continue their education and give back to their community.Once again, two members of Mujeres Latinas Empowering Mujeres Latinas, a nonprofit organization, were honorees for this great award. Sandra Ramon and Yvonne Salas, were two of the twelve recipients of the Hispanic Women of Distinction 2012, recognizing their contribution they have made to the Hispanic communities in Broward.


The Chamber , a multi-discipline sports performance and athletic training center located in Davie, founded by former Dolphins and NFL receiver Chris Chambers, celebrated its opening in August, gathering more than 100 people who visited the facility to meet Chris and part of his team, while enjoyed the Demos, food, drinks, tours and raffles all day long.

Among other guests at the event, we met Luis Razia, a pilot of Formula 1 , that came from Brazil to train during the summer in The Chamber fitness , as here he can find the necessary equipment to work on his muscle and bone strength and balance.

During the tour, we also met Tony Twymon, who along with Megan Phillipe (model) made a demonstration of how the Bio Density, a state-of-art equipment provides muscular stimulation in biomechanical ranges for bone health and muscular strength. Likewise, Dr. Marciante is in charge of Backline Chiropractic Center, after his spinal fracture that put him in disability for a long time, with 60 % chance of being paralyzed, he has now been dedicated to patients suffering injuries as a result of the neck and lower back pain, as well as detoxification with nutrition and ionic foot baths. He had the privilege of helping many professional athletes, including several dozen players in the NFl, get markedly increased performance results on the field.

Education is a changing and evolving process. That statement certainly applies to our community of Weston. We have a diversified student population, with many children coming from homes where Spanish is the language of the house.

There are many important issues in both public and private education. Parents, are an important component of the ‘team’ with teachers, curriculum and administrators. Let’s look at some important roles for parents in enhancing their children’s educational experience. Additionally, we need to be aware of how parents can hinder that process.

Parents need to encourage the value and role of education in their children’s lives. Parents need for children to hear the importance of respect for teachers. All to often in today’s world of education, teachers are viewed in an adversarial way. It is only with a strong bond between teachers and parents that a continuity can be provided for children.

In our Spanish speaking homes, parents need to assist children in the learning of reading and writing in Spanish. It is far easier to develop reading and writing skills in English, when children have literacy skills en Espanol.

In many parts of the United States, the bond of trust and collaboration between parents and teachers is being lost. This erosion of good faith between home and school is detrimental to creating a positive educational environment for children.

Parents need to listen to children’s complaints and concerns, but be sure to contact teachers for input and information… Always keeping an open mind to school related matters. Children should not be allowed to blame their actions on teachers. If parents do not examine the school’s view regarding a child’s behavior and merely accepts a child’s view without question, a loss of respect for school can result. I have heard parents talk to their children about their school or their teacher in terms that erodes that lack of respect for the education process. Much of being supportive with a school is simply having a positive attitude in general. Every one has good and bad teachers. If you have a problem a child’s teacher, it is important to go to school for a parent-teacher conference.

Here in Weston, if parents need translation assistance, ask the school for help. Schools in Weston are very ‘simpatico’ with parents’ language needs. Schools and teachers are allies in the learning process for our children. You might even need to discuss the fact

that not all teachers are the same with your student and give them extra support. But this is not the norm. By being supportive of education, you give your child positive messages and provide them with one less reason to ‘hate’ school.

Our schools are here to service children and their families. Parents should be the champions for their children and teachers in the education process. Remember, schools alone cannot do the job of educating children in preparation for life. The home and school must work collaboratively for our children.

curriculum developer, staff trainer and principal at the elementary, middle and high school levels. His 40 years in education took place in his native New York City and in So. Florida. In addition to education, Dr. Pollinger has been a radio broadcaster and sports announcer for Fairleight Dickinson University, in New Jersey. He has been on staff as an instructor in the School of Education at Florida Atlantic University. While teaching law at Seminole Middle School in Plantation, Fl., Dr. Pollinger was selected as the national social studies teacher of the year in 2006. Dr. Pollinger, lives in Weston with his wife Teresita, who teaches Spanish at Western High School in Davie, Florida.

policy. Follow up with your child to make sure the bullying has ceased. Parents need to be persistent and committed to ending the bullying.

Children who are bullied do not always report it or ask for help. Educating children about what bullying is can make it easier for them to identify it and talk about it. Make it clear that bullying is unacceptable and encourage kids to speak to a trusted adult if they are bullied or see others being bullied. Teach children a variety of strategies, including use of humor when appropriate and how being assertive when saying “no” or “stop” and not giving in. Children should also be taught conflict resolution skills, including how to compromise. Develop safety plans such as staying near adults or groups of other kids. Urge children to help others who are bullied by showing kindness or getting help. Check in with your child often, listen to them, get to know their friends, ask about school and understand their concerns. Help your child build confidence and self-esteem by encouraging them to engage in activities, interests and hobbies they enjoy. Be a good role model, be kind and treat others with respect.

School is officially back in session and unfortunately for some kids this might mean dealing with bullying. Kids who are bullied are more likely to experience depression and anxiety, increased feelings of sadness and loneliness, low self-esteem,

decreased academic performance, and health complaints. In some cases, victims of bullying take their own life or retaliate through extremely violent measures. It is important that parents understand what bullying is and how to help it stop.

Bullying is a repetitive, unwanted, aggressive behavior done by someone using power, physical strength or popularity to control or harm others by using teasing, name-calling, taunting, physical aggression, and threatening. Bullying can also involve spreading of rumors, embarrassing someone publicly, purposely excluding someone, and hurting someone’s reputation. Cyber bullying includes, sending mean messages or embarrassing pictures and videos via email, text or postings on social networking sites.

If your child tells you that he or she is a victim of bullying, be supportive, listen and let them know you want to help and avoid blaming your child. Obtain as much information as possible about what happened, who was involved, when and where it occurred. Role-play with your child how they might react if the bullying occurs again, do not tell them to ignore it or physically fight back. Parents

The back to school season can be a source of anxiety for both children and parents as they adjust to new routines, new teachers and friends, forthcoming homework assignments and, ultimately, tests. To help parents and students kick start the new school year successfully, parents should also make sure the family’s homework “house” is in order, since homework

headaches can negatively impact student grades. Most parents are aware of the basics of good homework habits, but many parents don’t know about perhaps the single-most important factor determining a student’s homework success - his or her “homework personality.”

Just as students have their own individual learning styles, they also have their own unique homework personalities. “Sprinters” are bundles of energy who rush through assignments. “Travelers” are inquisitive students who want to experience different situations. Determining a student’s “homework personality” is crucial to tailoring homework and study strategies that foster success in school.

Because each student is unique, with different learning styles and academic needs, one child may need to escape from potential distractions in order to study while another student multi-tasks and maintains good grades. If grades slip, change the way homework is completed in your household and re-address your child’s homework technique. The key is really getting to know your child’s unique homework style and

Good news, the Venezuelan pilot of the technical team of HP TECH Motorspot, Robert LaRocca, has become the winner of the F 2000 2012 Championship 2012, with the most prominent campaign achieved by a driver in this category:

Motorsport tells us: “Despite still not having completed the 2012 calendar, we have already succeeded in ensuring the Championship with twelve wins, nine races where we won 1st place, and two where we got 3rd place. In addition, we have nine Pole Positions, with the nine fastest laps and five track records “he stated.

la más sobresaliente campaña lograda por piloto alguno en esta categoría:

Heraclio Perez, director de HP TECH Motorsport,nos dice : “A pesar de no haber culminado el calendario 2012 aun ya hemos logrado asegurar el campeonato con doce carreras ganadas, en nueve obtuvimos el 1er lugar, y en dos donde el 3er lugar. Además, tenemos nueve “Pole Positions”, con las

nueve vueltas más rápidas (fastest laps), y cinco records de “pista acoto”.

En el momento de la entrevista, Heraclio y su equipo se estaban preparando para la carrera del fin de semana del 13 y 14 de Octubre , en Watkins Glen, NY donde aspiran imponer un record sin precedente, con el mayor número de carreras ganadas por piloto y por equipo alguno en esta categoría de F2000 en los EE.UU. Para Watskin Glen, el equipo de HP Tech Motorsport, contara con la participación de

El Ferrari Challenge es un campeonato de automovilismo en el que participan solo vehículos Ferrari, creado en 1993 . Desde el año 2011, el modelo exclusivo del Ferrari Challenge es la versión Challenge del nuevo modelo 458 Italia.

Antes de ir a la F200 en Nueva York, HP TECH Motorsport estará participando en la Ferrari Challenge durante el fin de semana del 29 de Septiembre, en el circuito de Homestead - Miami Speedway, con el piloto venezolano Maurizio Scala, y dos pilotos adicionales de nuestro equipo.

Su entrenador y asistente, Jonathan Loyola y Fred López estan muy orgullosos de estos jugadores talentosos, tales como: Sebastian Rosing (Weston), y Federico Ayalla (Weston), Donovan Loyola (Miami Lakes), Brian López (Miami Lakes), Nicolás Pereira (Doral).

Desde el principio, los resultados de los partidos de la Primera Ronda del Campeonato Nacional 3v3 de Fútbol, coloco al Killer Bees en el primer lugar, con 12 puntos para el primer lugar, contra el Lehigh Valley Hornets con 0, así como durante los siguientes encuentros el Killer Bees obtuvo (8) contra el Blitz con (3), luego se enfrento al FC Windfield (4), con un resultado a favor de Killer Bees con(12), terminando su batalla en esta vuelta, ganando al Real Madrid

u-9 (2) y el Killer Bees con (8).

En los cuartos de final, Killer Bees terminó con 8 contra el Hurricanes quien anoto 0. Este equipo de pequeños grandes jugadores, siendo dos de ellos, residentes de Weston, Sebastián y Federico, ganaron en la Semifinal con (10) goles contra el Blitz con (2).

Sebastian and Federico are students at the Imagine Charter School of Weston.Killer Bees Team and his Coach, Jonathan Loyola and Fred Lopez his assistant, are very proud of this talented players, such as: Sebastian Rosing (Weston), Federico Ayalla (Weston), Donovan Loyola (Miami Lakes), Brian Lopez (Miami Lakes), Nicolas Pereira (Doral).

con un gran número de simpatizantes, que hace esta carrera más enfrentada.

Los extranjeros que viven fuera de su país, pueden continuar ejerciendo su voto desde los consulados de sus países, que les correspondan. Los venezolanos en Miami, no corrieron con la misma suerte, ya que por orden del gobierno revolucionario en Venezuela, fue cerrado el Consulado de Venezuela en Miami, y los 19.542 electores inscritos en el Circuito Electoral Miami fueron migrados para votar en el Centro Electoral de New Orleans, ubicado a 1.400

kilómetros de distancia, para atender a los electores que comprenden los estados de la Florida, Georgia y las dos Carolinas.

The cities of Weston and Doral, is where the greatest number of Venezuelans in Western Broward and Miami-Dade are concentrated. During these months the Venezuelans are also experiencing the atmosphere of political campaigns between two candidates, the current President Hugo Chavez and his opponent Enrique Capriles Radonski, both with a large number of supporters, which makes this race more polarizing. Foreigners living outside their country can continue to exercise their right to vote from the corresponding consulates of their countries. Venezuelans in Miami, don’t have the same luck, since by order of the revolutionary Government in Venezuela, the Venezuela Consulate in Miami was closed, and the 19.542 voters enrolled in the Miami Electoral circuit were directed to vote at the polling place in New Orleans, located 1,400 kilometers away, to take in the voters comprising of the states of Florida, Georgia and the two Carolinas.

With more than 300 people present, the Venezuelan team, created an event called “El Potazo” (hit with the pole) as a message to spread the news to ensure that the greatest number of Venezuelan voters are in front of the polling stations on October 7th in New Orleans at 7 am, to cast their ballot. With a lot of enthusiasm and joy, “El Potazo” was conducted simultaneously by retailers of typical Venezuelan food, regular meeting places in the neighborhood, the Arepazo2, Café Canela and Arepas Magnet in Weston.

Oscar Ganem, Antonio Badilo, Juan Carlos Sanchez, Marisol Dieguez, Ramon Peraza, Carolina Lagos, Francisco Lara, Juan Arevalos, Jose Giaffe and Feliz Ovales, were in charge of giving all the Venezuelans present, the contact information and transportation options to the voting center in New Orleans.

Entre ellos, habrá un servicio gratuito de vuelos charters que le permitirá a más de 1,000 personas que no tengan los recursos para hacerlo, llegar a New Orleans y regresar, para ejercer su voto. Los costos de este servicio gratuito para ayudar a cumplir el objetivo de traslado, estará cubierto por donaciones y contribuciones que se estan solicitando a empresas y personas que se hagan solidarias con esta iniciativa.
