Introduction Civil Defence is a voluntary organization of
dedicated men & women who assist in the community under the control of the County Manager in times of crisis.
All members are multi- skilled to carry out their duties.
Members are aged from 16 to 65 years and come from different backgrounds.
On average train one night a week for 2 hours.

Introduction All members must be competent to carry
out their duties. All volunteers must undertake in the first
year of enrolment training in the following; Induction, Code of Conduct, Gardaí Vetted, Child Protection Policy Manual Handling, Communications First Aid

7th.-14th.January 2010- 8 days – 26 volunteers – 48 hours – 1,000km – 2 x 4WD Jeeps.

9 days – 51 volunteers – 90 hours – 3,500km – 3 x 4WD Jeeps

7th.-9th.January 2011 – 3 days – 10 volunteers – 14 hours, 200km.

Kerry Experience 3 x Children; require 24/7 Care Transported PHN & Specialised Nurses to
patients. Routine depart home @ 4am to depot with
co-driver. Vehicle check, de-ice, food, blankets,
battery charger. Collect Nurse at home, discuss timings Arrive at patients home, discuss pick up. Collect PHN & return Home. Inform Control.

Increase on services to respond; Requested private 4WD owned by CD
volunteers to respond to calls by Control. CDB Insurance on vehicles.
Local people with 4WD requested to assist CD with the response; Refused/ no; vetting, training & insurance cover.

Shopping, Firewood, Communicate Patients violent / difficult; Circumstances that patients live in. Trauma/ stresses; CD volunteers
