Provide students with the ability to comprehend the living conditions in America during the times of the Civil War
Establish a comparison between the Union and Confederate States
Understand the duties of both the men and women during the time of war
Provide a comprehension of the result of the Civil War and how it changed the culture of America
Students will work individually researching websites on the Civil War that have been selected for them
Students will use MindMeister to record their gatherings
Students will work together to interpret the information found in order to create an appropriate PowerPoint presentation
Students will use Jing to record their presentations
Students will be asked to recover prior knowledge on what they have learned in the classroom on the Civil War
Students will watch a Brainpop educational video on the Civil War
Students will use CPS Controllers in order to take a quiz on what the video covered
Students will start exploring the websites in which they will get their information from
Each student group will be provided MindMeister accounts that was previously created for them
Students will use the computer lab in order to complete research on the websites provided
Students will work individually to add important Civil War details to their mind map
With 10 minutes left in class, the groups will come together to talk about their mind maps
Students will receive a tutorial on the functions of PowerPoint
Students will learn the appropriate methods of adding animation and fonts
Students will experiment with PowerPoint setting up their initial presentation
Students will be introduced to Jing and presented a tutorial already created
Students will complete their PowerPoint slides covering all of the topics asked of them on the rubric
Students will create a Jing project by demonstrating their PowerPoint and adding voice
Presentations will be presented when all the groups are finished

A rubric will be presented to the students covering all of the lesson objectives
Students scores will be recorded with the CPS controllers
Students are assigned higher level questions that must be covered in the group’s PowerPoint
Checklist will be completed by the teacher in order to assure that students are all on task
