James Meredith
• Was a civil rights activist was well known for leading the March Against Fear in 1966, a protest against voter registration intimidation
• From 1989 to 1991 he became an adviser to southern conservative Senator Jesse Helms
• James Meredith is the first black student to enroll in the University of Mississippi
Kenneth B. Clark
• Kenneth Bancroft Clark, born in 1914 and died in 2005, taught psychology at Howard from 1937-38, and Hampton Institute from 1940-41.
• He was also a member of the New York State Board of Regents (1966-86)
• Kenneth was a author and wrote of a 1950 report on racial discrimination that was cited in the 1954 U.S. Supreme Court decision Brown vs. Board of Education of Topeka, Kans.
