It was a very great event which were demonstrated by Japanese artists from Cosmetic Institute of Kanebo, a global make-up company in Japan. The four Make-up artists from Japan introduced their make-up techniques to Cambodian youths which looked really beautiful. Four model ladies which were selected to be make-up by Japanese Expert were presented on stage spending around 15 minutes each. Three tables with various kind of Kanebo products were also arranged in the downstage to let the audiences have a chance to try on that product by themselves. It is the first time that Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) in coopertion with Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) supported by Embassy of Japan in Cambodia (EoJ) arranged this kind of event which attracted around 200 audiences. They expressed their satisfaction with the event and wished to join once again in the future with another new modern hair style, model show and so on. Customer Service Excellence Business Training Course on “Customer Service Excellence” was conducted on 23-24 April 2012 at Krom Ngoy Room 04, CJCC. This course covers on: - How to get into the mindset of their customers understanding customer service from the customer’s perspective - How to show the customer their respect to them – the art of listening actively - How to increase their self-confidence and how to deal effectively with dissatisfied and short-tempered customers and take action to make positive changes, etc. One of the 18 participants said, “It is always taking my interest to learn with a rich-experience foreign lecturer who had many years in the real practice in Customer Service. We are enthused to share each other experiences and even more interesting to discuss further more on the business opportunities in Cambodia. Although it was just two days training, we can enjoy building business network among each participant.” The 24th Cajalta Seminar On 19 May 2012, Cambodia Japanese Language Teachers Association(CAJALTA) organized a seminar at CJCC which include the three main topics: • The Difficulties of study Minna No Nihongo • Scholarship application and procedure • Experience of previous candidates who have been to Japan The topic of “Difficulties of study Minna No Nihongo” was presented by Mr. Lim Kok Heng, a Japanese lecturer from Royal University of Law and Economic. Scholarship application and procedure was presented by Mr. Hak Serey, a Japanese lecturer from Institute of Foreign Language. Experience in Japan and participating in various exchange programs were presented by outstanding students from IFL who have been selected to Japan for one year. Totally, 38 participants attended both Japanese language teachers and students. Participants were very satisfied with the presentation, shared idea and other fun and more importantly they could learn new Japanese environment. CJCC Supported 8 High School Students to Participate in Global Enterprise Challenge in Kyoto, Japan From 14-19 June 2012, 8 Cambodian students participated in Global Enterprise Challenge in Kyoto, Japan. Global Enterprise Challenge is a 24-hour enterprise challenge for young people aged 16-19. It gives young people the opportunity to develop their knowledge and experience of enterprise, through providing an environment where they can apply skills and develop their understanding in practical ways. Modern Japanese Make-Up Demonstration

On May 25, 2012 “ Modern Japanese Make-up Demonstration” was conducted at Angkor-Kizuna Hall of Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) from 4:00 to 6:30pm. It was a very great event which were demonstrated by Japanese artists from Cosmetic Institute of Kanebo, a global make-up company in Japan.

The four Make-up artists from Japan introduced their make-up techniques to Cambodian youths which looked really beautiful. Four model ladies which were selected to be make-up by Japanese Expert were presented on stage spending around 15 minutes each.

Three tables with various kind of Kanebo products were also arranged in the downstage to let the audiences have a chance to try on that product by themselves.

CJCC Supported 8 High School Students to Participate in Global

Enterprise Challenge in Kyoto, Japan

From 14-19 June 2012, 8 Cambodian students participated in Global Enterprise Challenge in Kyoto, Japan.

Global Enterprise Challenge is a 24-hour enterprise challenge for young people aged 16-19. It gives young people the opportunity to develop their knowledge and experience of enterprise, through providing an environment where they can apply skills and develop their understanding in practical ways.

This year 2012, 17 countries from Europe, Asia and The America participated in this competition.

Let’s Chat in Japanese

Japanese chatting session “Chat-talk” was held on Saturday, 07 June 2012 at CJCC. The theme of the session was “Education in Cambodia and Japan”.

7 Japanese and 24 Cambodian students participated in this event by divided into five groups sharing their own view about education in the both countries. This was a good opportunity for Japanese learners to develop Japanese Language by chatting with Japanese people and exchanging general knowledge related to Cambodia and Japan.

Japanese chat talk is always conducted one in every three months in order to get together between Japanese people and Japanese learning students to have a chance to discuss, practice and know each other.

“Accounting and Financial Management Course”

Corporate Management Course on the subject “Accounting and Financial Management” was conducted from 21-31 June 2012 in the evening from 17:50-20:30 at Phnom Penh-Tokyo Room 9, CJCC. The course was lectured by Mr. Muto Atsuhiro, the Chief Consultant at World Business Associates in Japan.

The overall course focused on: • Income Statement • Balance Sheet • Stockholders’ Equity • Statement of Cash Flows • Financial Statement Analysis • Financial Management • Time Value of Money • Working Capital • Japanese SMEs Operation, etc.

The course was conducted in a very interactive and practical way. Materials and certificate of completion were provided to the 29 participants from different companies, institutions and NGOs.

During his lectures, Mr. Muto Atsuhiro made his class very interactive with clear instruction. Many questions and answers were raised actively between lecturer and participants.

One participant’s comment:“I’m so impressed by the teacher’s experiences and the content of the course which I might spend months to cover this but only two weeks at CJCC. It is a short time but it fulfills my need. It provides me the overall concept of Accounting and Finance Management that I could apply for my present job. It is very nice to be in a diversification of classroom environment including foreign lecturer and students with different background.”

Friendship Cooking Class

To strengthen the relationship between Cambodia and Japan as well as giving opportunity to the public to learn more about Cambodian and Japanese culture, Exchange Program of Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) organized the “ Friendship Cooking Class” at Siem Reap-Kyoto, Room 08 on May 19, 2012 from 9:00 to 10:30am.

Taiyaki and Crisp Rice were showed on that day. Taiyaki is a Japanese fish-shape cake. It was first baked by a sweet shop Naniwayain Azubu, Tokyo in 1909; and now it can be found all over Japan. You can get delicious Taiyaki by just mixing all of ingredients (powder, salt, sugar, milk, eggs, and butter). Then, put it into Taiyaki Machine till it turns from red to blue signal and finally you can enjoy the delicious Taiyaki.

Crisp Rice is designed by a particular of Cambodian family which its sauce is a bit different from others favors. To get better sauces, you have to chop up pork into pieces, shrimp needs to chips into small pieces, grind peanuts, saffron needs to shake and take only water from it. Then, fry all ingredients with salt, sugar, fish sauce, and seasoning together. Next, put the coconut milk into it and stir till it’s cooked. Crisp Rice needs to puff. Here you can enjoy your time with your Crisp Rice.

26 participants consist of 7 males and 19 females showed their strong interest and enthusiasm to participate in this event. They wish to join this event again and want to have a bit longer time to discuss more about Cambodian and Japanese culture. There is also a suggestion to have some kinds of cooking competition in the next occasion as well.

CJCC is the biggest sponsor for this program for Cambodian students including air ticket, visa application, insurance and so on. This is one of the biggest contribution that CJCC has made to give Cambodian students an opportunity to challenge with the world and to make Cambodia more well-known in the world arena.

Mr. Than Poseng, one of the students said: “ It was a great event; I know a lot of people from different countries. It is my first time to be in Japan and participate a kind of international competition. We have tried our best. Although we didn’t get the first prize, we got quite a good result according to comments from the judges. I would like to express my gratitute to CJCC that bring me to this wonderful event.”

Japanese Moview Show

Japanese movie show is one of CJCC activities that show once every month with free admission to let the public enjoy the various types of Japanese movie.

In April, a story of “The 5 centimeters per second” a kind of animated show. In May, a story of “Hula girl” a kind of dancing show. In June, a story of “ Quartet”, a kind of classical concert movie has been showed to the public.

Each month, at least 50 audiences enjoy the movie. This is another activity of CJCC which guides Cambodian people to know more about Japanese society.

“Essential Elements in Accounting and Bookeeping”

Business Training Program of CJCC organized a course on “Essential Elements in Accounting and Bookkeeping” on 29-30 May 2012 at Chuon Nat Room 5 by Mr. Muto Atsuhiro, a Chief Consultant at World Business Associates in Japan. He is also a former General Manager of US Audit Office, Head of International Treasury Office in Tokyo, and Manager of Joint Venture Finance Company in Hong Kong. He has been invited to diverse national and international busines seminars.

As the business owner, you have to generate revenue, record and keep tract of expenses, and prepare year-end financial transactions. Accounting and bookkeeping is the key to all these responsibilities. These are the concepts of this course.

The course was conducted in English with attached handout. Detailed of the overall course are: • Financial Management by Accounting and Managerial Accounting • Basics of Accounting and Bookkeeping • Transactions and Journal Entries • Ledgers and Trial Balance • Inventory • Year End Adjustments and Closing Entries • Financial Statements • Cash Operation and Internal Control

According to the questionnaire from 15 participants attended in this course, 54% of participants will recommend the course and 31% will strongly recommend this course to their friends and neighbors.

Finanicial Management and Business Management Strategy

On 6-7 May 2012, Business Training course of CJCC conducted a “Financial Management and Business Management Strategy” at CJCC-Chuon Nat Room 05.Advanced concepts, methods and practical approach to systematic financial management were introduced in this course. The course brought together research outcomes and logical perspectives of business management strategies for application to real businesses.

The contents included: • Financial and Managerial Accounting • Internal Control • Business Strategy- Strategic Initiatives • Processes of Formulating Company Strategies • Business Financial Planning- Risk and Return and Asset Evaluation • Case Studies and Group Discussion

According to the questionnaire from the participants, the course was very formative and productive with a very experienced lecturer and well organized in course materials. It is great to know CEOs and Directors from big companies and build up good relationship with them The chance of making good partnership is where you can find at CJCC.

Caravan Seminar

Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) cooperated with other Japanese institutions including Japanese department of Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), Mekong Univeristy, Research and Education Center of Japanese Law , RULE Japanese Course, Nagasaki School, conduct CARAVAN seminar program from 6 to 16 June 2012 supported by Japan Foundation. The objective of this seminar is to advertise Japanese institutions in Cambodia and Japanese culture to high school students in Phnom Penh and other provinces.

Seven provinces were chosen such as: 1. Pursat 2. Battambang 3. Pailen 4. Banteay Mean Chey 5. Mondulkiri 6. Ratanakiri 7. Stoeung Treng In this occasion, CJCC nominated one expert, two staffs, and two students to join in this program. 1. Ms. Ogawa Kyoko, Japanese expert 2. Mr. Te Chantra, Japanese lecturer 3. Ms. Im Sophanavy, CJCC staff 4. Mr. Chhoun Meas Samorn and Ms. Seu Siphan, Japanese language student,

Japanese culture including Yukata wearing, Origami (Japanese folding paper), Japanese greeting words, Japanese food, place, technology were showed to students in this special seminar. This is to strengthen the relationship between Cambodia and Japan and also to promote Japanese language learning in Cambodia.

CJCC is now launching its new service “Job Information Club” which allows job seekers who are interested in working with Japanese Companies, NGOs, shops or other organizations to have an opportunity to access more and more valuable information.

New Japanese Language Expert

My name is OGAWA Kyoko. I have been working as a Japanese teacher for 30 years.I have completed BA in Japanese Linguistics, Master of Education in US. I have experienced of being a lecturer, Chief Coordinator, Head of Department in Taiwan, Australia, Japan and so on. I also worked as co-author for many Japanese publication in Tokyo and Melbourne. I like traditional performing arts and music, Archaeological sites, Handicraft, Listening to people, etc. I am very interested in Cambodia and wish to share my knowledge and skills I have been acquired so far to Cambodian teachers and learners. It is my pleasure to be here.

CJCC Nature Cafe

Nature Café was preliminary launched in July 2011 and officially started on 16 February 2012. It is located in CJCC building at the left front side of Angkor-Kizuna Hall.

We provide customers with various kinds of food and beverages including Japanese burger, ice cream, soft drink, bakery, cake and catering service in our center.Our business runs from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm from Monday to Saturday (Time could be flexible based on CJCC’s activities).

With the nice atmosphere and green environment, Nature Café is a great place where students, guests and the public can have a wonderful taste of food and drink and simultaneously enjoy the nature around them.
