juniors to become good squash
players. Participation in tournaments,
fitness and mental strength are also
part of the package that CJS is trying
to teach the players.
The slogan for CJS is : - “ One step
at a time” or more precise : “One
shot at a time” Coaches teach play-
ers to believe in themselves and to
step onto court with an attitude of I
can and I shall! Congratulations to all
those who did exactly that !
For the last 13 years Centurion
Junior Squash has grown into a
dynamic junior coaching group
where junior players develop
from not being able to hit a ball
into players competing against
the best in the country.
This year was no difference with
12 x CJS players qualifying to
participate in the SA Country
Schools Festival. To top that up
36 players received provincial
colors and representing
Gauteng North in the annual
Inter Provincial Tournament all
around South Africa.
From those players participating
in the IPT 3 of our players also
received SA Top 10 medals.
They are :
Valme Webster u14
Nico Ras u 19,
Jeanemie Vorster u14.
Maryna Fourie Head Coach of
Centurion Junior Squash said
that the reason for this year’s
success is mainly due to the
dedicated and passionate team
of coaches involved with CJS.
To get results like this also need
total commitment from the
parents and hats off to the CJS
parents for their involvement
and support during the 2016
season.
Other secrets for CJS success
are if players start attending
squash lessons at an early age.
During the early years they do
lots of hand-eye coordination
games and in the end this helps

When CJS was founded 13 years ago our
main venue for coaching was Uitsig Squash
Courts. In years that gone by we were privi-
lege to add Midstream College courts also as
a venue. Last term excitement ran high when
we open up the 3 brand new courts at
Midstream Ridge for the first time. Kentron
courts also gave us the green light for
coaching and soon we will start there. We
inform you hereby - CJS Coaching now
weekly on 4 different venues for your
convenience.
please support us in all our
fundraising events.
On Wednesday evening 7 Sep
we invite you to attend a 90’s
show at Barnyard @R180 pp.
Lets make this evening a
squash party like never before

confirm details. If you are
willing to buy tickets or make
a donation or know of a com-

they depart on 8 Dec to
Florida Orlando for a week of

A wise man once said life is a col-
lection of moments. CJS had the
privilege to share such moments
last term with Down Syndrome
PTA during their Warrior-type
obstacle race. I want to thank
Magda Lourens
chairlady of this
organisation for
the opportunity
we had to made
a difference by
helping and
assisting these
special children
during the
Warrior race. One of our CJS play-
ers made the comment on this
day… I never felt this good about
something I did! Was indeed an eye
opener for our players and an awe-
some event to give something back.
FB post of the chairlady
of Down Syndrome
PTA on April 16 – :
The CJS team was such
a blessing today, It
made me think of these
wise words “If you
want to see the true measure of a
man (or woman) watch how he/
she treats his inferiors, not his
equals” J.K. Rowling. What I saw
today made me so proud of our
young people.
Thank you for your open hearts
and hands. Luv to you all

hear what secrets JP brought
back to CJS from Egypt!
One of
our CJS
coaches
JP Brits
just
arrived
back
from Egypt. He had the wonder-
ful opportunity to practice for 2
weeks in Egypt together with
World no 8 Karim Abdel
Gawad. While in Egypt he also
as the players from
Entheos Christian College
and Tswane University of
Technology. The players
and coaches enjoyed it
very much and CJS would
like to thank Squash SA
for funding this development pro-
ject. We also would like to thank
Uitsig Squash Club who made their
courts available for these 75 players.
Earlier this year CJS coaches had
the privilege to present a Women

Many parents contact CJS to
enquire regarding private one to
one coaching sessions. We
would love to help players to
improve their game as long as
players don't overdue and lose
interest in squash. Our believe
is that junior players can do one
to one coaching but must prac-
tice in a group first in order to
“I never felt this good about
something I did”
Private coaching socialize and have fun.

Facebook group : Centurion Junior Squash
Centurion Junior Squash is a coaching group where all players
from pre-school to Gr. 12 can join with the primary goal to
learn the game of squash.
Currently there are representatives from 15+ Centurion
schools involved in the groups and thus the reason for the
name “Centurion Junior Squash” so that all schools in the area
can be included.
Our main goal for this coaching group is to provide an environ-
ment where players can have fun, make friends, relieve stress
caused by pressing school commitments. Players must learn
something new about themselves, about squash, and about
sportsmanship!
We strive to empower each junior with the basic facets of the
game, racquet work, hand eye coordination, fitness, as well as the
rules of the game.
Even though winning is important in
any sport and we also strive towards
it, it is more important to us that
each child that enrols in Centurion
Junior Squash grows within
themselves.
