Clarinet Audition Excerpts 2015-2016

(Students interested in bass clarinet may demonstrate a short solo on that instrument in addition to B-flat clarinet, though it is not required)

All excerpts are for B-flat Clarinet
In addition to the following excerpts, all players should prepare:
1. A Solo Piece (or excerpt from a piece) of your choice. This solo should be representative of your overall musical and technical ability. Solos and excerpts should be no more than 2 minutes in length.
2. Scales: Prepare two-octave major scales up to four sharps/flats. Each musicians will be asked to play at least two scales.
3. Sight Reading: Don’t neglect practicing sight reading pieces you are unfamiliar with to help prepare for this part of the audition.
