The only true constant is Change. Your City is looking forward to the new year. We are financially stable. Ordinances are being updated. Police and sanitation contracts are in place. And now, a ‘new’ for your City – It’s our website. Try it, we hope you find it useful and easy to navigate. To highlight some features:• Past issues of Clarkson Valley Living are now avail-
able in digital form• Accessible by your cell phone• Calendar of events• City and citizen news• Easy way to identify your alderpersons• City ordinances will be included with a method to
select a single one• A section “how do I” explains what’s needed when
making an application to the City• Forms needed when making an application to the City• Meeting minutes
You have read/seen numerous stories concerning the challenge around recyclables. The situation developed when China upgraded what they were willing to buy. Substantially, the ability of the sanitation companies to sell most (or all) recyclables changed to a charge to transport to other sources. They are exploring other markets now. We do not anticipate any changes in your service in 2019 not beyond at this print. We will keep you informed as the situation develops. So keep on recycling. Keep on being a good neighbor! Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

W ell, not exactly, but with each new year we look forward. Which gen-erally means some new beginnings
and/or new approaches – making the transition month of January different from other months. The holiday festivities are over, the wind-down time depends on many factors – your religion, family traditions, personal relationships, just to mention a few. I have heard it said that when the celebration is over, it’s time to talk about the real issues of life. And then comes “New Year’s resolutions”. Is this part of your family traditions? I can remember as a teenager, my mother talking with Dad and I (I was an only child) about New Year’s resolutions. It kind of went like this: Let’s talk about ways to improve our……. Dad, ok; me, nod of head. Mom, individ-ual projects and/or behavioral changes would be next. Dad, yeah, ok – me, ah grrr!!Obviously, this exercise was one of futility. My wife’s family, they eliminated the meeting and just talked in a passive way about the new year. So, in this Douglass family, New Year’s resolutions are more of a fun time to talk and rationalize about last year with good kidding. It’s fun reminiscing about trivial things to begin the new year. But no matter how or when one takes a serious look at the new year, there are de-cisions to be made. Family discussions of what joys and challenges are ahead in the new year are neces-sary. Then what changes are needed to accomplish our objectives? What about our friends, relatives, people we come in contact with – can we enhance their lives, too? New Year’s resolutions may get an undeserved rap. Because regardless of what you call the changes (some old, some new) planned or unplanned, they are necessary. You do remember:

THANK YOU TO OUR TEAM!We’ve had so many amazing residents help out with
content gathering over the last three and a half years. We
couldn’t have put it this publication together without the
contributions of the people on our team featured here, as
well as the countless residents who were always there to help
when needed. It’s because of this team and YOU that CVL has
won numerous national awards throughout its time in print.
Your help will not be forgotten – we are forever grateful!

Dear Residents of Clarkson Valley and CVL Busines Partners,
Sadly, the title of this article is correct. This is the last issue of Clarkson Valley Living. Chris and I will be starting a new chapter in our business lives, and unfortunately, we had to make the very difficult decision to end our time with N2 Publishing and pub-lishing Clarkson Valley Living. It was one of the most difficult decisions we've ever had to make because we have loved every moment of putting this publication together for you each month for the last three and a half years.
We have had the privilege to meet and get to know many of you, and we are so blessed to be able to call many of your friends. Thank you for letting us be a small part of your daily lives; you truly live in a wonderful and amazing community.
Thank you to everyone who has submitted content, pictures, and stories through the years – the publication could have not been possible without your support. We are so grateful to the numer-ous residents who have been an active part of CVL, especially our team of Resident Article Contributors, our Junior Writers and their parents who helped, the rest of our content team, and our go-to residents who were always there in a content pinch. The support of Mayor Douglass and the City Aldermen, as well as Michele and Sue at City Hall has been phenomenal. I would be remiss for not mentioning the year and a half that resident Chris-ty Howard was CVL's Content Manager. She helped make this publication amazing and was such a valuable asset to the team.
And to our business partners...none of this would have been possible without the financial support of your advertising. Thank you for your support and for being there for our residents when they needed you. We know that just because this publication is no longer in print, that CV residents will still choose to support you, because you chose to support them by providing this publication each and every month. We have enjoyed partnering with you and your loyalty to our publication enabled it to thrive, providing the community with a valuable resource. Going forward, we wish all of you the best of luck with your businesses. To all the residents, please continue to frequent their stores and businesses.
N2 will be actively looking for a new publisher to restart CVL. When the day comes that it is back in print, we know you will open up your lives to that person just like you did to us.
Chris and I have enjoyed meeting many of you and being involved with the neighborhood, and we know that we will see you around. Feel free to friend us on Facebook and we can keep up with each other through that, as well.
All the Best,Deanna & Chris Ley

Do you look forward to finding Clark-son Valley Living in your mailbox each month? It is only made possible by the support of our awesome business part-ners who sponsor this publication! It is their investment in the Clarkson Valley community that makes this possible. Because of the businesses who pay to support this publication, we are able to offer this publication completely free to you, the residents.
Most of these businesses partner with us as sponsors in the publica-tions for more than two years at a time, and a lot of them are Clarkson Valley residents who own a business themselves, which has always been a huge compliment to what we do. On a personal note, I have used numerous partners in our publication and have referred them out to friends and fami-ly whenever the need has arisen.
Need a service for something? Want to know who you can trust? Check out the “trusted vendor list” for our complete list of sponsors. Most of these businesses have undergone an extensive selection process and many are locally owned and operated ... it

“Life is short and The Adventure awaits - Find The Adventure.” Resident Article Contributor Nick Tilley took us on adventures around the world in 2018. He shared trips from far and wide, with the most memorable ones being his photo with a llama overlook-ing Machu Picchu, coming face to face with a rhino in Nepal, the snowy hike out of the Grand Canyon, and hikes closer to home on the Chubb Trail and the Katy Trail just to name a few. We have lived vicariously through his travel tales.
Want to hear about more of Nick’s adventures, check out his website - www.BackpackU.com - or drop him an email at [email protected]. You can also follow Nick’s latest adventures on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (@BackpackU). We’d also like to thank the business partner who sponsored this article each and every month - Allen Roofing & Siding, which is owned by Clarkson Valley residents Lee and Tracy Allen.
