class – ix syllabuS 2019-2020
"The syllabus is a small place that brings students and teachers together."
-Sharan RubinA syllabus is a formal statement of what the course is about, where it is
going, what students are being asked to do, how their performance is evaluated and what is required for them to be successful in their academic year. So a great way to start the academic year is to begin by properly going through the syllabus in detail.
This syllabus sets forth what is expected to happen during the academic year 2019-20 in both scholastic and co-scholastic domains for the class and delineated the responsibilities of students and of the teachers. It gives a clear and accurate course structure, course calendar, attendance and grading policies etc. It is a permanent record that serves accountability and documentation functions. It contains information useful for evaluation of teachers for academic session as it mentions required textbooks and other materials, the subjects and topics to be covered at the level for various examination schedules (Periodic Tests and Annual Examination) and the rubrics for evaluation. This is a learning tool that helps students become more effective learners in the class. It places the course in context and informs students of the teachers’ procedure to evaluate their learning, the coverage of the content area what they need to be effective learners.
The syllabus also presents the co-curricular planner that guides the students through various seminars, activities to be held during the academic session. It also acquaints the students with the assistance to be provided to them to prepare for a range of competitive examinations e.g. KVPY/ JEE/ PMT etc.
The syllabus in your hands is prepared strictly under the guidance of CBSE. It is necessary for all the stake holders to go through the pages in details as the institution experts the teachers and the students to abide by it throughout the session. It is needless to say by this time that this syllabus is going to provide you a solid beginning to the session 2019-20 as a resource to be referred over the academic year setting the tone and providing a conceptual framework to be successful in the course completion under CBSE curriculum.
