Favorite Campus Memories I have great memories of my student years at Washington University. The campus environment itself encourages academic excellence. The technical and laboratory courses as well as the humanities courses leading up to the Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering were challenging and motivating. I am grateful to the professors, including Dr. Lloyd Brown, and instructors for their dedication, knowledge, and experience. I also have great memories of playing intramural tennis as a member of the Theta Xi Fraternity, Iota Chapter, participating in the Thurtene Carnivals, as well as rooting for the Battling Bears football and basketball teams. The academic preparation, as well as interaction with fellow students, was of great benefit to me in my career.

All the activities I was involved in including: Theta Xi-scholarship; Chairman 1964; IM Tennis ‘62-’64; I.E.E.E: I.F.C. Sing; Thurtene Carnival; IM softball; Engineer’s Day.

Life Since Graduation Since graduation, I have worked for Wagner Electric Corporation, Union Electric Company, and Ameren Corporation. I retired in 2011. As you can now see in the recent photo, I still enjoy my hobby of electric trains which are assembled and run during the holidays for family and friends. With my wife, XXX. we have four children and nine grandchildren. I wish all the 50th Reunion Alumni the best.

Favorite Campus Memories/Life Since Graduation

Although I started out at Washington & Lee University, I partied myself back to St. Louis where after a semester in University College (better known as the night school), I went on to receive my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Washington University. In 1965, I married XXX from St. Louis and we have two children and two grandchildren.

After graduating, I joined the St. Louis office of Arthur Andersen where I spent the following 33 years. I was admitted to the partnership in 1977, headed up the worldwide coal mining industry from 1980 to my retirement in 1998, and served as managing partner of Financial and Economic Consulting of the St. Louis office from 1988-1998.

Over my career, I served on college, charitable and non-profit boards. I am past president of the Washington University School of Business Executive Committee and past president of the Washington University Alumni Association, as well as past president of the Coro Foundation, and past treasurer of Focus St. Louis and the Edgewood Children’s Center. In 2000 and 2001, I was president of Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis where we were hosting the 2001 American Express World Golf Championship when the tragic happenings on September 11 rightfully brought an abrupt end to this event as well as numerous others around the country.

Since retiring from Arthur Andersen in 1998, I have been fortunate to a very exciting second part time career serving on several public company boards – Peabody Energy Company (BTU-NYSE), Natural Resource Partners (NRP-NYSE), and about 85 closed end, open end and exchange traded mutual funds under the Guggenheim Financial family of funds. I also serve on the board of Kennedy Capital Management, Inc., a privately held investment advisor in St. Louis.

We split our time between St. Louis and Bonita Springs, Florida where golf is a must for both venues.
