Happy Anniversary, Ross!

Today we honor Ross Burton for his fifteen years of faithful

service to God and First Baptist Church. There is a reception in the Atrium between the first and

second services, at which time you can greet Ross and Jane and share any expressions of appreciation which you

feel led to share.

We pray God will continue to bless Ross and Jane, and their family, in their service.

*Please note that photography and video recording may take place while you’re here. Your presence on the campus signifies your consent to First Baptist Church using your image. Thanks for your cooperation.

A Word for Worship

Rescuing God, forgive us those polite, timid prayers we’ve

learned to pray. Jolt us again in this holy hour with a saving power worthy of our bravest, most audacious entreaties. Save us, Lord, we pray, for we are very great sinners and the hour is

late and we are far from the sheltering harbor of your grace. We are (though we’ve grown too sophisticated to admit it and

dare not sing it aloud for fear of the sneers of cultured disbelievers all around us) still “sinking deep in sin, far from the

peaceful shore, very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more.” Rescue us, Lord. No one else can. Amen.

[H. Mitchell Simpson]
