FACULTY POSITION IN BREAST IMAGING-- Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. The depart- ment of radiology at Johns Hopkins Medical Insti- tutions has recently approved a faculty position in the division of breast imaging at the associate pro- fessor level. At present, the breast imaging divi- sion has six part-time or full-time staff participat- ing in a busy academic clinical practice that is highly active in teaching and research. The de- partment currently performs approximately 35,000 breast imaging and 1,700 interventional studies per year at facilities that include the Johns Hopkins Breast Imaging Center (a university hospital-based outpatient facility) and a suburban multi-specialty outpatient center, the Johns Hopkins Greenspring Clinic. The Johns Hopkins Breast Imaging Center has five mammography units, a full breast digital mammography unit, two ultrasound units, a ste- reotactic core biopsy unit, and an ABBI system. In addition, breast MRI and nuclear breast imaging are also performed. The Greenspring Clinic has three mammography units, two ultrasound units and a stereotactic core biopsy system. Research opportunities include chemoprevention, clinical epidemi- ology, diet, nutrition and other lifestyle-factor studies, evidence- based decisionmaking, intervention studies, outcomes research, special populations, screening and early detection (including genetic and other biomarkers), smoking

cessation, social and behavioral research, statistical and epidemio- logical methodology, and transla- tional research.

Am I eligible?

You must have a doctorate degree (M.D., D.D.S., D.O., Ph.D. or equiva- lent) from a U.S., territorial or Canadian institution. Foreign med- ical graduates must have current USMLE or ECFMG certification.

You must also be either a citizen or resident alien of the U.S. eligible for citizenship within 4 years.

How long is the program?

Fellows are accepted for up to 5 years of training beginning in July.

When are applications flue?

Applications are due September 1, 2000 for entry into the program July 1, 2001.
