Possessive ( milik ) : whose / of which

Place ( tempat ) : where / in which / on which / at which

Time ( waktu ) : when

“How” dan “Why” BUKAN termasuk RELATIVE PRONOUNS

A. NOUN CLAUSE

• Noun clause adalah anak kalimat pengganti kata benda atau biasanya menduduki subyek atau obyek dalam kalimat. Noun clause tidakdapat berdiri sendiri karena dia belummemiliki makna yang lengkap atau biasadikatakan dependent clause.

• Ada beberapa macam kata yang biasa dipakaipada noun clauses seperti when, why, whom, where, how, what, whose, dan which.

Macam-macam Noun Clause :

1. Noun clause as subject

•Ms. Candra loves Firas.

Who teaches English loves Firas.

• Elizabeth likes eating sphagetti.

Who teaches Japanese likes eatingsphagetti.

2. Noun clause as object

• Ms. Candra loves Firas.

Ms. Candra loves who has a tall body.

• Elizabeth likes eating sphagetti.

Elizabeth likes eating which has tasty sauce from Italy.

B. ADJECTIVE CLAUSE

• Adjective clause adalah anak kalimat yang digunakan untuk menjelaskan kata benda didepannya.

• Dalam membentuk ADJECTIVE CLAUSE, sering kali kita menggunakan RELATIVE PRONOUNS (kata ganti penghubung) yang dalam bahasa Indonesia mempunyai arti YANG.

Macam-macam Adjective clause : 1. Adjective clause as person :Who:

• Ms. Candra loves Firas. She is an English teacher.

Ms. Candra who is an English teacher loves Firas.

• Elizabeth likes eating sphagetti. She is a Japanese teacher.Elizabeth who is a Japanese teacher likes

eating sphagetti.

Whom:

• Ms. Chandra loves Firas. She talks to him this morning

2. Adjective clause as thing

•Sphagetti is one of the most delicious food in the world. It is made in Italy

Sphagetti which is made in Italy is one of the most delicious food in the world

3. Adjective clause as possession

• Ms. Candra is a good teacher. Her English is fluent.

Ms. Candra whose English is fluent is a good teacher.

•Elizabeth likes to go to Italy. Her favorite food is sphagetti.

Elizabeth whose favorite food is sphagetti likes to go to Italy.

4. Adjective clause as place

• The library has many books. I return my book there.

The library where I return my book has many books.

The library at which I return my book has many books.

5. Adjective clause as time

• The day was Sunday. I called you on that day.

The day when I called you was Sunday.

The day on which I called you was Sunday.

C. ADVERB CLAUSE

• Adverb clause adalah anak kalimat yang menerangkan kata kerja dan berfungsi sebagaiadverb (kata keterangan ) dan memberikan informasi tentang verb, adjective, atau adverb.

• Adverb clause dimulai dengan suatu kata yang disebut subordinate conjunction ( when, after, because, though, etc.)

Macam-macam Adverb Clause:

1. Adverb Clause of time

Conjunction: after, as, as long as, as soon as, at last, before, by the time, during, everytime, once, since, then, till until, when, whenever, while.

Ex:

• He was cleaning the kitchen last night. Nobody is in the kitchen at that time.

He was cleaning the kitchen last night whennobody is in the kitchen

• While I was studying in my room, I didn’t let someone else disturb

3. Adverb Clause of cause & effect

Conjunction: as, as long as, because, due to the fact that, how, in as much as, since, so..that, such..that, that

Ex:

• Because she had free time during last holiday, she re-arranged her house

4. Adverb Clause of reason

Conjunction: in case, in order that, in the hope that, least, so that, to the end that

Ex:

• The woman cooks by herself in order that her family gets the best nutrition.

• Rian drove fast so that he could arrived on time.

5. Adverb Clause of condition

Conjunction: as long as/in so far as, even if, if, if..not, in case (that), in the event that, on condition that, only if, otherwise, provided/providing (that), suppose/supposing that, unless, whether or not

Ex:

• I’ll come to the party only if you accompany me.

• As long as you follow the traffic regulation, you won’t be ticketed

6. Adverb Clause of contrast/concession

Conjunction: although, as the time, but, even if, even though, on the other hand, still, though, where as, while, yet.

Ex:

• Although many friends confronted her ambition, Yulia went forward such as tank.

• Though I’m annoyed, I try to think positively

7. Adverb Clause of manner

Conjunction: as, how, in that, the way

Ex:

• I wonder how I learn grammar uneffectively for almost fifteen years

• We sometimes do not realize the way God help us

SUMMARY

• In noun clause the noun is gone/loss/omit.

• In Adjective Clause the noun it self still/exist.

• Adverb Clause explains verb.

Terrible Day

O : Last Sunday was a terrible day. My cousins and I wereplaying football infront of a house together to spent ourtime.

E : First, it was really fun until I kick the ball too strong, soleaded into a window and I broke the window. Suddenlywe heard a loud voice,the owner came to us and he wasshouted on us. Then one of my cousins told us to run, weall run, suddenly we heard a bark sound. The owner lethis dog to chase us. The dog catched me and bit my leg.

R : My cousins took me to the doctor and told my parents.The doctor said that I was exposed to rabies. Then I washospitalized for one more week.
