Agenda Item: 8.5

Purpose: Action Submitted By: Jim Scheible

The Board will approve expenditures of up to $60,000 for computer equipment and other expenses needed for the expansion of course and enrollment in the Digital Arts and Technology Academy. The Digital Arts & Technical Academy (DATA) is composed of imaginative students who are dedicated to achieving both creatively and academically. Students in this academy will focus on ranging fields of Graphic Design, Animation, Game Design, Coding, Web Design and Media Arts. This academy/pathway is a great way for students to stay on a guided track towards a career in the digital art or computer science industry and aligns with the schools mission and vision of preparing students for college and careers beyond high school. The equipment will be used in ways to help prepare students for further education and careers. We want our students to become uploaders and creators of original works that reflect the rigorous coursework. The desktop computers will allow students to work with industry software at a 1 to 1 ratio. The tablets will allow students in the digital arts program to work with industry hardware. The purpose of each is to allow students to be ready for college/career at the completion of their selected pathway. Other students will also benefit from the purchase of the equipment including: Engineering Design /Robotics – We are partnering with the Engineering Academy to revitalize the school's robotics program. Students in Computer Science with be work with Student Engineers to compete in VEX robotics competitions. Technovation – Our competitive girls programming team working the MIT’s Application Development software would be afforded the opportunity to create, test, and distribute their work in preparation for the annual competition. Overall each item to be purchased will be a great benefit to our program and the entire school. It will help us better promote our programs and recruit students to the STEAM fields of study. Students will be better trained and prepared in areas that are currently absent from our school while allowing the school to partner with colleges and industry seamlessly. Recommendation: Approve

Additional Named Insured(s)N/A

NAMED INSURED DISCLOSURE

The first named insured is granted certain rights and responsibilities that do not apply to other policy named insuredsand is designated to act on behalf of all insureds for making policy changes, receiving correspondence, distributingclaim proceeds, and making premium payments.

Additional named insured is (1) A person or organization, other than the first named insured, identified as an insuredin the policy declarations or an addendum to the policy declarations. (2) A person or organization added to a policyafter the policy is written with the status of named insured. This entity would have the same rights and responsibilitiesas an entity named as an insured in the policy declarations (other than those rights and responsibilities reserved tothe first named insured).

Applies to Professional Liability, Pollution Liability, Directors & Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability,Fiduciary Liability policies (this list not all inclusive). Check your Policy language for applicability. These policiesprovide protection to the Named Insured for claims made against it alleging a covered wrongful act. Coverage is notafforded to any other entities (unless specifically added by endorsement or if qualified as a “Subsidiary” pursuant tothe policy wording) affiliated by common individual insured ownership or to which indemnification is otherwisecontractually owed. If coverage is desired for affiliated entities or for contractual indemnities owed, please contactyour Alliant Service Team with a full list of entities for which coverage is requested. With each request, includecomplete financials and ownership information for submission to the carrier. It should be noted, that the underwriter’sacceptance of any proposed amendments to the policy, including expansion of the scope of “Insureds” under thepolicy could result in a potential diminution of the applicable limits of liability and/or an additional premium charge.

Name Insureds are covered for all operations. Additional Insureds are only covered with respect to their interest inyour operations. See each individual policy for details
