Sparks, of Travis Air Force base, Calif., spent Christmas week with Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Beirne and Frank A. Thomas. They left Monday en route for Travis Air Force base, where Mrs. Lowe will spend time with her son-in-law and daughter. A daughter, Carol Ann, was born Dec. 30 to Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wright at the Stamford hospital. Mrs. Wright and daughter returned home Jan. 2. The baby weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces. From out-of-town present at the funeral of William Baker were Mr. and Mrs. George Ped- ley of Charlestown, W. Va,; Richard Hotchkiss of New York city, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Spar- ling and children, Glenn, W il- liam and Linda, of Utica, Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Sparling and family of Kerhonkson, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lyon of Bain- bridge, Mrs. Marion Beers and Miss Ruth Baker of Walton, Miss Glenda Cosenza of Stam- ford, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kief- fer, Richard Sparling, Mrs. Lot- tie Skinner, Mr. and Mrs. Don- ald Skinner and Mrs. Clayton Skinner, all of Binghamton. Mrs. Helen K. Bates enter- tained a number of young people at her home on Main street the day before Christ- mas. She was assisted by Don- ald Martin. Guests were Laurie Finch, DawTi Bl^eslee, Susan Snyder, Shirley Snyder, Melis- sa Kohler, Mary Underwood, and Lorraine Thomas. The lit- tle girls performed skits they had written themselves. Susan Snyder played the accordion, and all sang Christmas carols. Each guest received a gift, and an extra gift from a grab-bag, and they brought gifts for their hostess. Miss Marion Raymond and Miss Dorothy Martin of -White Plains were Christmas guests of Mrs. Helen K. Bates. David Moore of Fleisch- manns, home from Vietnam, and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Fur- man and sons, Kevin and Ken- neth, were Christmas guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Furman. Mr. Furman was home from the hospital, much improved, for Christmas, but has gone back for further treatment. Mrs. Julia Gilham and Mrs. Walter More and daughter, Elsie, took Mi;^. ^.Gilham'’s daughter,^-Edrth;-tb Aiba!t3 l?:Me- morial hospital. She' had an oi>eration on her left hip to re- move the pins.
