Ⅰ. NPM Introduction

NPM can monitor, control and manage the power supply of many equipments in cabinets in data room all over

the world through LAN or WAN. For meeting with the restrictions and requirements in different environment,

NPM supplies many connection methods; can be connected through RJ45 in the LAN and WAN; can be accessed

and controlled through standard network management station.

Ⅱ. Function Description

1. Monitoring: Through the display interface and knob on the NPM, can monitor the total load current, individual

load current, power on/off state of individual outlet, temperature/humidity state, smog state, water logging state,

door open/close state.

2. Controlling function: Controlling the power on/off of outlet; Configuring the interval when sequential power

on/off.

3. Keeping the original state: Keeping the original state of each outlet when resetting.

4. User-defined alarming: the Min/Max limits value of total load current, individual outlet load current and

temperature/humidity.

5. System default alarming:Alarming when the total load current over limited value, or the individual outlet load

current over limited value, or individual outlet faults, or smog appears, or water logging or door opening happens.

6. Multi-alarming ways: The running indicator flashes and the buzzer alarms on the NPM controlling panel; the

problem displays (flash) on the web managing interface and the PC buzzer alarms; automatically send e-mail

to system administrator; SNMP sends alarm information.

7. Daisy-chain functions: can be daisy-chain connected at most 10 PCS using serial or radicalized connection

method.

8. User management: User right configuration

9. Access method: through IE (as Web), SNMP or Telnet (other command lines console) to access and control.

10. Support multi-user operation system and software upgrade.

Ⅲ. Applied Range

1. NPM series products can be applied to server cabinet, network cabinet etc.

2. The socket quantity (12, 16, 20, or 24) and socket standard of NPM vertical series products can be selected.

3. NPM series products conform to RoHS instruction, suitable for 110VAC and 220 VAC power supply, can meet

with the customers’ different requirements all over the world.

Ⅴ. Mounting Method

Vertical Installation.

. Hardware InⅥ troduction

1. Powering on & Self-check

The buzzer will make a sound when NPM is connected with AC power source, the panel LED is on and

sequentially display (it means digitron is normal, any different display is fault), software version number

(for example: ), baud rate (for example: ), serial number (For example: ), products series number

( ),socket quantity(for example: ), finally display the OUTLET No.1 and its value, and the running

indicator flashes, M/S indicator on means this NPM is master and off means this is slave NPM.

2. Current, Temperature & Humidity Monitoring

OUTLET No.1 and OUTLET No.2 are used to monitor the relative outlet value (OUTLET No.2 has the function

of adding 8 port or reducing 8 port when display).

3. Water logging & Smog Monitoring

3.1 When the water logging sensor monitoring the water, NPM screen displays and the buzzer alarms at the

same time.

3.2 When the smog sensor monitoring the smog, NPM screen displays ,and the buzzer alarms at the same

time.

4. Outlet Fault Monitoring

When one outlet fault (For example: A1), the NPM screen will display relative fault (for example: ), and

the buzzer alarms at the same time.

5. Individual Current, Total Current, Temperature & Humidity over Limit Monitoring

5.1 When individual load current, total load current, temperature & humidity value are lower than limited

minimum, the NPM screen displays as A.1 (that means the NO1 outlet is lower)

5.2 When individual load current, total load current, temperature & humidity value are higher than limited

maximum, the NPM screen displays as A.1.. (that means the NO1 outlet is higher)

6. Self-checking Parameter Monitoring

Make the OUTLET N0.1 display , then press reset button, the NPM screen sequentially display the NPM

self-checking parameter for one minute.

7. Stopping Alarm Monitoring

Click the RESET button to stop alarm for one minute (When NPM4101 has alarm information, the knob is not

NPM User Manual available, you have to stop the alarm for one minute then you can check other information. But if you don’t

modify the fault, it still alarms after one minute until you have modified the fault.)

8. Master / Slave NPM Configuration

Press the RESET button for 10-13 seconds, the indicator of M/S on indicates the NPM is the master NPM; Press

the RESET button for 5-8 seconds, the indicator of M/S off indicates the NPM is the slave NPM. Account the

time please refer to the RUN indicator (T= 2S)

9. Daisy-chain Connection Method

9.1 Each NPM owns the sole serial NO. different from others which have been locked before leaving factory and

can not be changed.

9.2 Configuring one master NPM and the others are slave NPM, can be daisy-chain 10 PCS NPM at most.

9.3 One end of the network wire connects to the LINK port of the master NPM, the other end connects to the

SER port of the first slave NPM, then use one end of another wire connects to the LINK port of the first slave

NPM, the other end connects to the SER port of the next slave NPM. Use the same way to connect other slave

NPM.

9.4 One end of the network wire connects to the net port of the PC; the other end connects to the NET port of the

NPM, then through IE to access. (Details please refers to the software introduction)

10. Radialized Connection Method

10.1 Configuring one master NPM and the others are slave NPM, can be daisy-chain 10 PCS NPM at most

10.3 One end of the network wire connects to the LINK port of the master NPM, the other end connects to the

RJ45 port of the HUB (special HUB for NPM daisy chain must from our company)

10.4 Use the end of another network wire connects to another in/out port of the HUB, the other end connects to

the SER port of the slave. Each in/out port of HUB connects to the SER port of the slave NPM, can

daisy-chain 10pcs at most.

10.5 Through IE to access (Details please refers to the software introduction)

11. Software Upgrade in Hardware

11.1 We will provide you the file of software upgrade ,and please save it in your PC

the software

This interface is mainly used to configure the daisy-chain NPM information, add or modify the daisy-chain NPM

name, address, sequential interval, relative individual output name etc

A. “Select Device” frame display the NPM name

B. Input the NPM serial NO. on the right side of “NPM Address No.” frame. This serial NO. is exclusive and can

not be the same as that of other NPM. Otherwise, the daisy-chain will fail.

C “NPM name” frame is used to add NPM name, which is convenient for user’s management, the recommended

NPM name is exclusive

D. “Sequence Interval” frame is used to modify the interval of sequential power on.

“1-24” frame is used to name the individual outlet of NPM

E. The left list shows the name of current daisy-chain NPM; select any NPM to modify the relative information on

the relative input frame.

This network interface is used to configure NPM network information. The NPM administrator can configure the

NPM IP address, subnet mask, gateway address, DNS and check the network connection state and speed and other

information.

A. User can use the default IP address through selecting the button of “Obtain an IP address automatically”

B. User can configure the network information through selecting the “Use the following IP address” button

IP Address:192.168.1.n (2<n<254)

Corresponding to NPM IP address, “n” is an integer between 2 and 254.

Subnet Mask:255.255.255.0

Corresponding to NPM subnet mask, subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 when NPM IP is the third kind of IP.

Default Gateway:192.168.1.1 s

Corresponding to NPM default gateway

The NPM IP address can not be the same as the PC IP address and the NPM IP address must be in the same

network segment as the PC IP address.

C. Click “Apply” button, then power off the NPM to restart, the modified information will be valid

4.6 Timing power on/off controlling

A. User click “Timing Control” in the guide menu to open the HTML interface

B. User can choose the daisy-chain NPM in the HTML interface and configure the timing power on and power off

same with the local time, user can click “Setting” button to modify the time

4.7.1 Current alarming function configuration

4.7.2 Environment alarming function configuration

A. User click the “ Alarm” from the guide menu and then select the “Threshold Value” to open relative web

When the current value of individual output and temperature/humidity value exceed their defined alarm limit value,

the NPM will make the buzzer sound to alarm and at the same time the relative current value /sensors value will

become red flashed word to alarm.

4.7.3 Alarming method configuration

There are three alarming method: sound alarm, e-mail alarm and SNMP Traps

A. Configure the sound alarm method

Select the “Enabled Sound Prompt” to enable the sound alarm function, when something goes wrong, the

administrator PC will sound to remind user.

B. Configure the e-mail alarm method

Select the “Enabled E-mail Prompt” to enable the e-mail alarm function, when something goes wrong, it will

automatically send an e-mail to the user’s defined e-mail address

C. Configure SNMP Traps alarming method

A. User can click the “Alarm Logs” to open the relative WEB interface;

B. User can inquiry the alarm record information from the relative drop-down menu of daisy-chain NPM

4.10. HTTP/SSL configuration information

4.10.1 HTTP function configuration

A. User click the “Web” on the guide menu to open the relative page

B. Select “Enable” on the drop-down menu of “Server” to enable HTTP function

C. Input HTTP port number in the corresponding input frame of “port”.

D. Click “Apply” to submit and save configuration.

HTTP protocol, hypertext transport protocols, is an application-level object-oriented protocol, because the HTTP

protocol is simple and the scale of HTTP server is small, its communication speed is fast. .NPM system adopts

HTTP protocol to make the system management, data traffic and controlling faster and more convenient.

4.10.2 SSL function configuration

A. Select “Enable” in the “Server” drop-down menu to enable SSL function.

B. Select “Optional” or “Required” in “Secure Access” drop-down menu to enable the unsafe HTTP and SSL

encryption HTTP interview; Select “Required” only to enable SSL encryption connection interview

C. Click “Apply” button to submit and save configuration

Secure Socket Layers (SSL), used to ensure the safety of transport data when user interview NPM remotely. Using

data encryption technology can ensure the data can not be intercepted and eavesdropped during network

NPM User Manual transportation. Authorized user and server ensure that the data can be sent to the proper customers’ equipment and

servers; Encrypt data to protect data from filching; maintain the data integrality, ensure the data is not changed

during transportation; SSL provides two important function: authorize user and Encrypt data

SSL Makes the NPM data system communication safer, network management more convenient.

4.11 SNMP function configuration

The SNMP WEB page is used to set up and renovate the entire configuration to enable the SNMP function, it is

also used to visit trap configuration page

A. Click the “SNMP” in the guide menu to open the corresponding WEB page

B. Select Enabled or Disabled in“SNMP Agent”drop-down menu to confirm whether enable the SNMP function

C. Configure the community string, input community string on the Get community frame, the string length

should be between 1 and 24 characters

D. Configure SNMP calculagraph, input one trap calculagraph value in the Error Trap Repeat Time frame, the

trap calculagraph value should be between 1-65535

E. Configure trap object, input an IP address on the Trap Destination frame then click “Apply” button

NPM support Simple Network management Protocol (SNMP), which enables administrator to use SNMP to search

network information and control individual outlets through network management system.

NPM system has SNMP function which include MIB I and MIB II; support remotely controlling function of the

power.

4.12 Update configuration

See the following picture

Administrator can upload a new version of NPM system software to NPM in the Update page, to update the NPM

software system.

A. User clicks the “Update” in the guide menu to open the corresponding WEB page.

B. Administrator clicks “browse” button to select the updated .bin file, and then click “Upload” to upload this file

to the NPM.

C. After finishing upload, the user must power off the NPM and reboot the NPM to complete the software updating.

4.13 User management

User management page is mainly used to display, delete and edit the user’s information and user rights.

A. Click “User Manage” in the guide menu to open the relative WEB page.

B. This page shows all the user information of NPM system: User name, User level, control, detailed

operation etc

C. Details of user management page information are as follows:

User Name User name

Level User lever, User level include two lever, one is senior user “Administrator” and the other is common user “User”

Control Rights User rights editing, click “Edit” link to enter the user rights editing page.

Detailed operation, user click “Edit” link to enter the user information editing page to edit user password, user lever Action

Click “Remove” button to delete relative user

Senior use (Administrator) can operate all the functions of NPM system; common user (user) can only operate the

basic functions of NPM system.

D. Click “New User” link to enter new user creating page

Create a new user: see the following picture

A. When creating a user, administrator opens the new user creating page and then input a new user name on the

corresponding frame.

B. Input the user password in “Password” frame and verified password on the “Verify Password”frame.

C. “User Level” drops-down menu is the user level, “Administrator” is the senior user and “User” is the

common user.

D. Click “Apply” button to submit data and the new user creating is finished successfully.

Edit user information

A. Administrator edits user information; “User Name” is the current editor’s user name.

B. Modify the user password in “Password” frame, input verified password in “Verify Password” frame,

Password and verified password must be the same.

C. “User Level” drop-down menu is the user lever, “Administrator” is the senior user and “User” is the common

user and then Click “Apply” button to finish user information editing.

4.14 Restart system

User click the “Restart” button at the guide menu to restart the system

4.15 Logout system

User click “Logout” in the guide menu, then click “Yes” button to logout NPM system

5.NPM daisy-chain

5.1 Daisy-chain method

A. Firstly configure one master NPM and some slave NPM, confirm the connection is correct.( when NPM M/S

indicator is on, it is on master NPM state; otherwise ,it is on slave NPM state)

Master NPM configuration

NPM is on slave NPM state, press RESET button for 12 seconds, M/S indicator on means configuration is successful

Slave NPM configuration

NPM is on master NPM state, press RESET button for 6 seconds, M/S indicator off means configuration is successful

B. Input the IP address, open the master NPM WEB system, and open Device Configuration page;

C. On the NPM configuration page, input the physical address of daisy-chain NPM in the corresponding frame of

NPM Address No. to name NPM.

D. Click “Apply” button to submit and save configuration information

E. Click “Device Control” in the guide menu, open NPM control page, then select the daisy-chain NPM in the

drop-down menu of “select device”. If data information is correct, the NPM daisy-chain is correct.

5.2 Daisy-chain configuration

A. Daisy-chain NPM, all the physical address of daisy-chain NPM must be exclusive;

B. Name each daisy-chain NPM, their names must be different to avoid confusion;

6.FAQ and solution

6.1 Input NPM IP then press “enter” but can not see the system login frame

Solution: Firstly please confirm whether the NPM IP and the PC IP connected with NPM are in the same network

segment, Ping NPM IP address to confirm whether the network connection is normal;

6.2 Input user name and password on the login frame but can not enter the NPM Web interface

Solution: Please confirm whether the user name and password are correct, and then submit again

6.3 Entering into NPM Web interface but can not read the NPM state;

Solution: Please open the “Device Configuration” to check whether the NPM address on the NPM Address No.

frame is correct, after confirm this address is the same as the connected NPM address, please refresh to read; If the

connected NPM address is not the same as the address on the NPM Address No. frame, please input NPM address

on the input frame then click “Apply” to save and read NPM state again.

Ⅷ Operation steps

1.Install the NPM vertically on the fixed place

2.Connect the door, water logging, smog and temperature/humidity sensors correctly

3.Select connecting method according to your requirement (details in chapter Six)

4.Connect the NPM plug to the AC power source, configure the master and slave NPM, open the IE browser to

configure correctly. (Details in chapter Seven)

The NPM warrants to be free for repairing in two years from the date of purchasing. During this period, our

obligation is limited to repair, replace or return to our company for repair. If the product has been beyond the

repair charge.

The above warranty does not apply to the following situation:
