Chapter 1 Introduction

1.1 The main function of the Client ApplicationPreview: Real_time preview picture through network

Local record: Record data in host

PTI control: Control Pan-Tilt-Iris

Remote Replay: Replay the files saved in server through network

Download files: Download the files from sever

Set video param.: Dynamically adjust the value of brightness, contrast,

saturation and Hue

Voice comm.: Carry out voice communication with the center

Fortify/Withdraws: Fortify/Withdraw at most 16 servers for alarm signal.

1.2 The Applications componentsThe client application system is composed of three files: hikclient.exe,

HikMP4Net.dll and HikPlayM4.dll.

Chapter 3 Operation

3.1 System configurationThe login window will appear after launching hikclient.exe.

If you havent set up client systems user name and password(The default is not

set), you can continue by clicking on the Okbutton.

If you want set user name and user password of the client application, click on the

Modify button to display the name and password configuration window, as

follows:

Input user name and user password on this screen. When done, clickOkbutton to

return to the login screen, and then input the modified user name and password

and clickOk.

Now the main screen appears:

The main screen can be divided into three areas: preview area, right control panel

area and bottom control panel area.

Real time video and/or audio streams got through network are decoded and

displayed in preview area.

The right control panel includes Pan-Tilt-Iris controlling button, function button,

recording indication led, alarm indication led, and video parameter adjustment

slider. The Pan-Tilt-Iris control part of right control panel is used for controlling

Pan-Tilt-Iris connecting to server. Recording indication led indicates whether the

client application is carrying out local record(each light corresponding to a

preview picture), that is, recording streams in hosts hard disk. Alarm indication

led shows whether the client application received the alarm signal from

server(each led corresponding to a server). When the alarm signal is received

from server, the led changes into red(detailed information can be known by click

log button). Note that the alarm signal can be received only if fortifying is done

successfully(the led of alarm turns green). Video parameter adjustment slider

adjust video parameters such as brightness ,contrast, saturation, hue.

The bottom control panel includes sixteen check boxes, page switch control,

picture number setting and sound play window selection. The sixteen check boxesshows the state of connecting to server. Check them to start/stop preview the

video and/or audio streams according to the local configuration. In switch control

part, Switch P(Switch Pause) is available when "Switch Play"(setting in local

configuration)is set(When Clicked,it changes to Switch RSwitch Resume). The

automatic switch of pictures will be paused when clicked. The Last page and the

Next page is available when " Swich Play" is not set.3.2 Localconfiguration

If executed for the first time , the software requires configing. ClickConfig

button in main window.

Number:

Channel number in all, ranging from 1 to 64

Name:

Channel name. No more than 256 character

IP address:IP address of server

Channel:

The channel number of server

User name and Password:

The servers user name and password. Preview would fail if the user

name or the password is error

Protocol:

The protocol used in the network connection

Multicast group Address:

If Multicast set, it need to be set. The address is a D type of IP address,

the scope is 224.0. 0.0 to 239.255. 255.255, the Multicast group Address

of the client must be consistent with the Multicast group Address of the

Server.

Decoder type:

Select the type of decoder

Decoder address:

Ranging from 0 to 255. The decoder type and decoder address are used

for controlling Pan-Tilt-Iris.

Switch play:Whether preview picture switch automatically.

Switch Time:

The time to switch

Delete:

Delete the configurations of current number

Save:Save the configurations of current number.

Exit:

Exit this window and return to main screen.

3.3 Network Preview

3.3.1 Start/Stop network preview

Real_time network preview can be started/stopped by click start/stop button,or

by check the check box individually in bottom control panel.

3.3.2 Pan/Tilt Control

1. Config decorder type and decorder address in Local Configuration window

2. Start network preview

3. ClickUp, Down, Left, Right button to Control Pan-Tilt

3.3.3 Lens Control

1. Config decorder type and address in Local Configuration window

2. Start network preview

3. ClickTele, Wide, Near, Far, Close, Open button to control lens

3.4 Local Record

ClickRecord button, the Local Record window appears

There are two types of recording: automatic and manual. For manual record,

input the maximum time recorded per file, select initial driver, and click Ok. Forautomatic recording, schedule requires configing. The schedule configuration

window shows as the following. When done,clickOk.

When recording is started, the record indication led in main window changes into

red.

3.5 Download Files

ClickDownload button on the main screen, the Download window will appear.

Select IP address and channel of sever, file type, start time and stop time, then

click List File. After file listing is completed, select the file you want to

download, and clickDownload.

3.6 Replay

3.6.1 Remote Replay (from server)

Remote Replay playbacks the stream file recorded in servers hard disk.

1. Replay according to file name

Click R Replay button on the main screen, the Remote Replay window

appears.

Select IP address and channel of sever, file type, start time and stop time, thenclick List File. After file listing is completed, select the file you want to

playback, and click play. The progress slider indicates the progress of

playing. We can know the total frame numbers and the current frame

numbers, total time and played time from the static box below the progress

slider(as picture shows: 9 is current frame number 9476 is total frame

numbers000000 indates the file has played for 0 seconds0006

19 indicates that the total play time is 6 miniutes and 19 seconds).

2. Multi-channel Replay according to time

Click M Replay button on the main screen, the Multi-channel Rplay window

appears.

Select the start time and stop time, the picture numbers, clickPlay button,

multiple channel streams will be played back synchronously according to theserver IP address and channel configured in local configuration

3.6.2 Local Replay

Local Replay replays the stream file recorded in hosts hard disk.

ClickL Replay button on the main screen, the Local Playback window appears.

ClickOpen button, and select a file named *.mp4 from host to start play

3.7 Get Server status

ClickStatus button on the main screen, the Server status window appears.

ClickGet button after selected IP address, you can get channel information andhard disk information for specified server. The information of hard disk includes

the information of volume and free space. The channel information includes:

1. whether or not the stream from the channel is recorded

2. how many clients connecting with the server.

3. number of coded frame

4. current bitrate of the channel

If you want to get IP address of client connecting with server, click Get IP, click

Ok on the succeeding window after inputting IP address, user name and

password.

The Client address screen shows as follow

ClickNext to change to the next channel. ClickExit to return to the server status

window.

3.8 Get LogInformationClickLog button on the main screen, the Log window appears .

From this window , we can know the time and reason for failure of connecting toserver, the address and port of server rececived alarm input signal.

3.9 Fortify/Withdraw For Alarm SignalClick the F/W FAS button on the main interface, the Fortify/ Withdraw For

Alarm Signal window appears.

At most 16 IP addresses which configured in Local Configuration window are

listed on this screen. Check the IP address you want to Fortify/Withdraw, and

clickSet when done.

3.10 Voice Communicationclick the Voice C button on the main window, the speech speaking screen

appears.

Select the the desired server, input the user name and password, and click the

Start button.3.11 Video parameter adjustment

check them using "Local Configuration " function

2 Server is down or in rebooting progress. Please use ping to check if the

server is accessable

2. Examine the input video signal of server when dark screen appears.

3. Examine the network bandwidth and the CPU utilization rate of host system whenthere is mosaic.

4. Examine the network bandwidth when there is animation sense.
