This would seem to indicate a rather laissez-faire attitude when it

comes to the environment, although there have been concerns

raised that this may create a glut of cheap polluting vehicles on

the road which will drive up vehicle emissions.

If they use public transport then they will be doing much more to

help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the resulting climate

change. At the very least, if people buy a carbon footprint

reduction pass and use it in conjunction with skip bin rental, they

will feel some sense of personal responsibility for something which

is causing global warming.

Of course, there are a few factors at play here. The public transport

options included in the Howard government's plan would seem to

indicate a commitment to a more sustainable future, as the price

of electricity and gas rises.

It also seems to indicate a willingness on the part of the transport

providers to embrace the idea of low carbon travel if it means they

receive a bigger profit. If the public can buy themselves some skip

bins and use them for climate change and clean air purposes, then

perhaps they will consider this option when it comes to finding the

best price for their annual trip.
