The Generations cast came in numbers with the likes of Zenande Mfenyana, Thami Mngqolo with his girlfriend Jo-Anne Reyneke, Menzi Ngubane (who said he was still looking for a kidney donor), Melusi Yeni, Zikhona Sodlaka and Winnie Modise who all looked dazzling. “I’ve known them for many years and with all that has been going on, I wish them peace in their lives,” said Winnie. “But for me I just want to make the Royalty Awards a success.” THE beautiful Terry Pheto also came out to play wearing a white dress with gold sequins. She said she’d bought the dress “somewhere in Los Angeles” and decided to wear it to the Mpisanes’ lavish party. “It’s always fun to put on a beautiful dress and go to a party,” she giggled. Terry came with her friend from Isibaya, Mampho Brescia, who wore a tan chiffon dress by DYKSA. Zolisa Xaluva, Dumisani Mbebe, Andile Mxakaza and Nomzamo Mbatha were also there. IT’S now three minutes before midnight and the Mpisanes join Zonke on stage. With cameras and spotlights on her, Shauwn starts the countdown – 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 . . . Happy New Year! As fireworks light up the Durban sky, Shauwn screams, “Bad luck be gone!” Midnight may have come and gone but the party is in full swing as DJ Oskido, DJ Siyanda, DJ Zinhle, soul-jazz band Heels Over Head, Zakes Bantwini, Mafikizolo, Dr Malinga and uHuru are still to perform their favourite tracks on the specially built stage.
