Photos by Andrew & Brigitte
McDonald and Evan Williamson
NEW VEHICLES
As of 31 January 2015, vehicles built from 1 January 1949 will require a full certificate
of roadworthiness to apply for the club permit scheme.
Vehicle safety checks for permit issue can be carried out by our safety
scrutineers by request. Because these checks are to done by trading mechanical repair
businesses, for legal reasons a fee will be charged (and returned to club funds) and the
check will need to be booked in as any other job.
Safety Scrutineers: Rod Boreham 56251017 or Wayne Henry 0409252258
PERMIT RENEWAL
Upon renewal, please photocopy your renewal form for club records and ensure the club has hard copy photographs
of your vehicle. Required date stamped photos are:
- front - rear - driving position (side on, door open)
- driver side - passenger side - body and engine number stampings and plates
Permit registration renewals are to be signed by club signatories at club meetings only. Please do not approach them
at their workplace or home, except in a pre-arranged emergency situation.
Club Signatories: Ross Watson or Rod Boreham (club meetings only)
Please remember that club permit holders must remain financial members of the club at all times as
required by VicRoads. As such, yearly membership fees need to be received no later than June 30.
Old News – No. 141 – December 2017 3
What a great occasion to finish the year with. Having our Christmas dinner at night has proved to be
very popular, with 61 people attending and sharing a meal and the evening. Thanks to all those who
attended. Thanks to those who helped prepare the night. Thanks to Darren and Erin for the great
meal. Thanks for the great lot of donated goods for the raffle which allowed thirteen different
prizes.
Our shed extension is progressing steadily. We are now working on the walls with materials
arriving this week. We will be having working bees on this over the next few weeks and will be
looking for helpers. Please keep this in mind and let us know if you are available to help.
Look forward to seeing you all at the December meeting with your old vehicles and BYO tea to
finish the year.
We wish you all a happy and safe Christmas and New Year, and look forward to another enjoyable
year in 2018.

Old News – No. 141 – December 2017 5
Shannons Trust
Applications are open for the 2018 Shannon Trust. This
is for young people to apply for a grant to help them
restore a project.
Younger Members
The Federation is still looking to get younger members
involved in the Federation. And it is hoped that clubs
can get the younger people involved at their level too.
Coming Events
The Historic Tractor and Machinery swap is on 28th
and 29th April 2018.
100 Years of Veteran and Vintage celebration:
Federation is looking to celebrate in 2019 100 years of
Veteran and Vintage Vehicles. And will focus on the 5
picnic days and the Bendigo Castlemaine run and the
Golden Oldies run also.
Australia Day in the Domain
The powers that be organising it have once again cut
down the number of vehicles allowed to even less than
last year.
Bendigo Swap Meet
The swap is on again and by the time you read this it
will be over. All sites were fully booked. The swap
magazine looks great once again. Entry tickets for site
holders and volunteers are already sent. Vehicle
stickers are different. Wrist bands remain the same and
pass out stamps are still available. There is a club
corner and space for clubs. It is free to clubs but it is
not a trading site.
Federation Picnics
All the picnics are on again.
Mortlake and Wunghnu are 24th and 25th
March 2018
Scoresby is 15th April 2018
Marong is the last Sunday in August with the
Castlemaine run on the day prior.
And of course the Maffra Picnic was on the
12th November this year. Did anyone go?
Clubs insurance policies are out again.
The Club Permit Scheme
There is a review being conducted presently. This is to
do with the Community involvement. Slight changes
to the placing of a vehicle on CPS and minor
amendments. It is a carry on from the 2016 review and
being conducted by the same outside consultants. This
is where the involvement by Club members in the
community activities may become important. There
may be other changes to align CPS requirements by
VicRoads to be the same for the fully registered
vehicles. The article re transferring vehicles to Partners
in the event of a death.
If you wish a car to be on the CPS you must be a
member in your own right. Husband and wife come
under the one banner and only one partner can have
cars on the CPS. If they both want to have a car then
the partner must pay a membership to the club. It is
VicRoads ruling, not our clubs.
It is important to keep up to date with the CPS
information on the VicRoads Website.
AHMF Stolen Property
The AHMF are going to set up a site where stolen
historic property or vehicles can be listed to deal with
things a bit more quickly than the two weeks it takes
police to do so. Cars have been located within 24
hours via social media.
2018 Federation Rally
Entry forms have come out and it is based in Yarram,
so the Baw Baw Club will be hosting the Federation
Meeting in October 2018 the day the Hub rally starts
and delegates will not have far to travel after the
Federation Meeting.
Lorraine
Thank you to everyone who has contributed reports, photos,
recipes and more to the newsletter over the last 12 months. A
special thank you to Neil, Heather and Ross who assist with the
posted copies and labels each month.
The first Old News for 2018 will be the usual January/February
combined issue, published late January. All contributions are
welcome. The deadline is Monday 29 January.
