The purpose of virtual worlds and Club Penguin is to allow the younger generation from ages six to fourteen to be able to socialize with other people there age through a safe environment. The kids can build houses and show them to others. When I was younger and I was not allowed to have a myspace or facebook, so club penguin allowed me to develope social skills and be able to interact with other penguins (people) online.

On this virtual website you can play games and earn coins which allows you to buy clothes, accessories, an igloo (house), furniture, and a puffle (their pets) for your penguin. Thesegames include a sled game, where you can play against other penguins. You can also earn coins by going on missions. There are currently eleven missions that are available now.

The characteristics that describe Club Penguin as a form of social media are generational, global, and appropriative. This is a virtual world that Disney made for kids so that can explore online and be safe from any forms of danger. This game has gone almost world wide, it is in countries like Great Britian and Australia. It is made for a younger generation, but it's a starter tool to bigger forms of social media.

The uses of this social media is to help kids socialize in a safe enviornment. It allows them to make friends through their avatar penguins and complete different tasks together. When a task is completed or the avatar penguin wins a game they are rewarded through coins.
