This PDF includes the state level 2015 participation information by grade for ELA and Math and by disaggregated groups,
including the number and percent of records coded as parent refusals. Please note that at the secondary level, students
in a particular grade are eligible to take the math assessment that most closely aligns with their instruction. For example,
eighth graders may take the 8th Grade math assessment, Algebra I, Integrated I, Geometry or Integrated II (see the chart
below for all options). Participation is reported in this data file by grade level, not by test. Details around the calculation
of participation rates are below.
Reference information concerning the participation rates, secondary math options and disaggregated reporting
follows.
Participation Rates
Participation rates are included to contextualize the achievement results, by showing what proportions of students are
included in those results. Students without a valid score on the CMAS PARCC assessment (including parent refusals) are
not counted as participants in the participation rate calculations. With the 2015 accountability hold, there is no state
accountability impacted by participation rates. No districts or schools are being held liable through state accountability
for these participation rates. Again, the participation rates are provided for the purpose of interpreting the achievement
results.
