This initiative provide an exceptional va- cation experience to travelers at the best rates. ” RCom and Ericsson sign $1 billion network management pact MUMBAI: R e l i a n c e CommunicationsBSE - 0.33 % today said it has outsourced operations and management of its network in northern and western India to Ericsson in an $ 1 billion agree- ment spread over eight years. The contract would cover one lakh kilometres of fiber and mobile infra- structure in 11 telecom circles of RCom, across North and West of India including Delhi and Mumbai, a joint state- ment by the two compa- nies. The eight-year agree- ment is valued at $ 1 bil- lion, it said adding 5,000 employees of RCom will join Ericsson in this regard. "Given the complexity of network increasing with platforms, technologies and application offerings, we are banking on the ex- perience, innovation and technical expertise of Ericsson to improve the productivity of our net- work," RCom's Chief Ex- ecutive Officer for Wireless Business, Gurdeep Singh said. As per the contract, Ericsson will manage the day to day operations across wireline and wire- less networks and will take over responsibility for field maintenance, network op- erations and operational planning of RCom 2G, CDMA and 3G mobile net- works, it added. The partnership will al- low RCom to free up re- sources to focus on user experience, as well as im- proving innovation power and speed across the specified geographies, the statement said. "With this partnership, Reliance will increase fo- cus on their core business and innovation. We are pleased to welcome more than 5,000 employees who will join us from Reli- ance Communications," Ericsson's Executive Vice President and Head of Business Unit Global Ser- vices Magnus Mandersson said. Ericsson will be re- sponsible for improving network performance and ultimately service quality, with the goal of increasing customer satisfaction and retention, the statement said. "This is one of the first times that wireless and wireline enterprise net- work is being outsourced to deliver world-class ser- vice and performance as- surance," RCom's CEO for Global and Enterprise Business Punit Garg said. RCom infrastructure covers 24,000 towns and 6 lakh villages in India to which it offers converged services including voice, data and video, it said. Renault's Chinese subsidiary began recalling 61,508 Koleos sport utility vehicles produced be- tween December 2008 and July 2012, Xinhua re- ported. The General Ad- ministration of Quality Su- pervision, Inspection and Quarantine said fuel level sensors in the cars cannot deliver correct readings after long periods of use and are unsafe to use.
