CORPORATIVE BACKGROUND

There are two variations for the correct usage of the brand application on the corporate background.

Please note the detail of the light blue triangle can only be kept when applied over the dark blue background.

BLACK AND WHITE

The black and white versions of the logos are used if the colour versions cannot be used.

Swinburne and ECA

If the audience is ECA orientated, such as an EDM to ECA agents, then you can co-brand with the Swinburne and ECA logos but need to use the original Swinburne branding (without yellow and charcoal, font must be open sans only).

Positioning and clear space:

Place the Swinburne logo first before the ECA logo. Swinburne logo to the left of the ECA logo.

The ‘N’ from the Swinburne logo determines the boundary of the opposing logo as well as the clear space surrounding both logos, as per Swinburne brand guidelines.

Co-branding logo variations

CORPORATIVE BACKGROUND (ORIGINAL)

If the audience is ECA orientated, such as EDM to ECA agents, then you can co-brand with the Swinburne and ECA logos but need to use the original Swinburne branding.

These two variations are the correct usage for a brand application on the original corporate background.

Where possible, avoid red backgrounds.

CORPORATIVE BACKGROUND (NEW)

Depending on who the audience is these two variations are the correct usage for a brand application on the new corporate background.

If ECA sends out an EDM to Swinburne Sydney students or does a special advertisement and it is approved, e.g. bus promotion, then the new branding and logos can be used, otherwise it is exclusive to Swinburne and cannot be used for co-branding.

Swinburne content guidelines

Do’s Don’ts

• I.T. – written in this manner, when writing in lower case

• Swinburne new branding (yellow) for Swinburne-related audience only

• Swinburne new branding (yellow) used for the bus promotion and co-branded with ECA – exception rather than the rule

• General rule of thumb for new branding when using the yellow and white in headings for marketing assets: If headings are an uneven number of lines, the preference is for more lines in yellow than white e.g. if the heading is five lines, then three would be yellow and two would be white. An exception would be if the break between yellow and white does not make grammatical sense. In this instance, this is an exception.

• If you send out an EDM to Swinburne Sydney students, then ECA can use the new branding (yellow)

• Say master programs

• Use the CRICOS Provider code 00111D and not the course provider codes. The CRICOS Provider code, should be used on everything we do

• When promoting overseas, we can use the Swinburne logo with SYDNEY AUSTRALIA written underneath. sometimes we can use it to attract international students only

• For headings, prefer sentence case rather than upper and lowercase

• Swinburne University of Technology, in Sydney located in Parramatta

• For social media posts, only a few hashtags can be used and only at the end of a post

VU Sydney and ECA

When you co-brand VU Sydney and ECA, a partnership text must be included:

In partnership with Education Centre of Australia, Victoria University delivers higher education programs in Sydney.

When you co-brand VU Sydney and ECA:

You must use the full black or full white versions of the ECA logo. No other version of the logo must be used. Please see page 16. for all the variations.

Positioning:

The VU Sydney and ECA logos do not need to be displayed together, VU Sydney logo can appear on the top of the artwork and ECA along with the partnership text at the bottom.

Clear space:

Place the Victoria University Sydney logo first before the ECA logo. Put Victoria University Sydney logo to the left of the ECA logo.

According to VIctoria University Brand Guidelines, the ‘V’ from the VU logo determines the boundary of the opposing logo as well as calculates a clear space surrounding both logos.

Do’s Don’ts

• Use VU rankings overall for VU Sydney marketing materials

• VU Sydney (ECA) is responsible for writing content across the marketing mediums

• VU Sydney and VU India to provide job brief form to VU Melbourne for any work to be carried out – not necessary for social media

• Be clear and succinct in your choice of words – clarity is the key

• Spell check all text

• Only use capital letters on specific titles, positions, names and places

• Use correct punctuation

• Check facts and statistics for accuracy

• On reference, acronyms should appear in brackets behind the full name or title

• Not use localised VU Victoria rakings for VU Sydney marketing materials

• VU Melbourne is responsible for end to end design and establishing templates, which will assist with this process

• Avoid personal VU email addresses as much as possible

• For students, due to English not being the first language and cultural differences, there needs to be a careful word choice, to avoid misinterpretation. For example, use of words such as “uni” (too casual) or “revolutionary” (encouraging use of a provocative term). Similarly, they may interpret a reference to ‘reporting to authorities” as a threat or intimidation, rather than as an explanation of obligations.
