1.0. GENERAL

1.1 Seven Associations in the State ofTamilnadu have formed a Consortium in thename of “Consortium of Self FinancingProfessional, Arts and Science Collegesin Tamilnadu”, where majority of theEngineering Colleges are members. TheConsortium has been granted permission toadmit students in undergraduateengineering courses (B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch)in various private professional colleges underthe Management Quota in the state ofTamilnadu on the basis of the marks obtainedby the student in the relevant subjects inthe qualifying examination by “Committeeto Regulate/Monitor the Admissions ofStudents to Professional, Arts andScience Colleges”, Chennai ‘vide’ itsProceeding No.COA / Engineering / 032/2016, dated 25.04.2016

1.2 A Candidate desirous to seek admission forProfessional Courses under managementquota must have passed the HigherSecondary Course (HSC) examination andalso those who will be appearing for theInstant Examination conducted by the StateBoard.

1.3 Applying to Professional Courses(B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch) Admissions 2016under management quota does notconfer on the person the right ofeligibility for admission to any of theProfessional Courses. The decision onthe eligibility of the candidates foradmission to a course entirely rests withthe respective authorities.

1.4 The admission shall be made on the basisof the rank list drawn which includes theacademic marks obtained in the relevantsubjects in the qualifying examination afternormalization of marks.

1.5 Admission into every professional educationinstitute other than minority professionaleducational institution shall be madefollowing the reservation as per law in force.

1.6 The courses under the category ofengineering and technology are givenbelow.

Engineering

B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch courses in theself financing institutions affiliated to AnnaUniversity - Chennai, Anna University -Coimbatore, Anna University - Trichy, AnnaUniversity - Madurai Anna University -Tirunelveli.

1.7 MODE OF SELECTION

(a) Admission to General Category : Theselection of candidates will be on the basisof the marks they have obtained in theprescribed subjects in the qualifyingexamination.

The academic marks in the prescribedsubjects will be reduced to a baseof 200. (Mathematics 100, Physics +Chemistry = 100). Ranking of the candidateswill be done based on the total marks to amaximum of 200.

Normalization of Marks and Inter-seMerit:Tamil Nadu Acts No.3 of 2007,dt : 5 th March, 2007 and G.O. (Ms).No.77,Higher Education (J2) Dept., dt. 5th April,2007 the marks obtained by the students inthe relevent subjects in the qualifyingexamination conducted by various Boardsor Authority shall be equated with the marksobtained by the students in the samesubjects in the qualifying examinationconducted by the State Board of Tamil Naduby adopting the method of normalization.(e.g) if the highest marks secured by thestudent of State Board of Tamil Nadu inPhysics is 100 and the highest markssecured by a student of any other Board inthe same subject is 90 both the highestmarks will be considered to be equal to 100.If a student of the other Board secures 60marks in Physics when the first mark inPhysics in the same Board is 90, the 60marks will be considered to be equal to66.66 marks as arrived at below :

After normalization of marks in the relevantsubjects in the qualifying examinationconducted by different Boards, the qualifiedstudents of different Boards shall be mergedinto a common merit list.A merit list will be prepared based on thetotal marks of 200. In cases where more thanone Candidate have got the same marks inthe common merit list, the inter-se meritamong such Candidates shall bedetermined in the order of priority asspecified below :(1) Percentage of marks in Mathematics,(2) Percentage of marks in Physics,(3) Percentage of marks in the Fourthoptional subject, (4) Date of Birth, (5)Random number assigned (higher value willbe given preference).The overall rank lists will be publishedin the web site of Consortium of Self -Financing Professional, Arts and ScienceColleges in Tamilnadu, Chennai atwww.tnsfconsortium.org. and the copiesof the overall rank list will be made availablefor member colleges and Committee toRegulate/Monitor the Admissions ofStudents to Professional, Arts andScience Colleges. The candidates will alsobe informed of their rank individually bycertificate of post.(b) Admission of Vocational StreamCandidates:Vocational Stream Candidatesranking will also be as in the case of HSCacademic stream candidates. The academicmarks in the prescribed subjects will bereduced to a base of 200 (Related subject100 marks, Vocational subject includingtheory and practical 100 marks).

2.0 ELIGIBILITY2.1 Eligibility for admission to Professional

Courses (B.E. / B.Tech / B.Arch)Application forms for admission to variousprofessional courses together with detailsof minimum marks to be obtained inindividual subjects and groups of subjects,weightage of qualifying Examination marksand age limit, number of attempts to passthe qualifying examination, improvementmarks and physical standards can beobtained from the respective admittingauthorities.However the minimum qualifying examinationrequired for various professional courses isas follows.

Engineering(I) Qualifying Examination

(a) A Pass in HSC Examination (Academic)of the 10 +2 curriculum of the Governmentof Tamilnadu with Mathematics, Physicsand Chemistry as three of the four subjectsof study under Part III.

(b) A Pass in any one of the HSC Examination(Vocational) listed below of the 10 +2Curriculum of the Government of Tamilnaduwith ONE or TWO of the related subjectsnamely Mathematics, Physics or Chemistrywith a minimum average percentage in therelavent subject.

(c) B.Arch (5years) Candidates must havestudied Mathematics as one of the subjects.In addition, the candidates must havepassed The National Aptitude Test conductedby council of Architecture, India (www.nata.in).The merit list for B.Arch Programme will beprepared based on the total marks obtainedin the qualifying examination (Aggregate of200) and mark obtained in NATA (Aggregateof 200).

Vocational Subjects : Building Maintenance,Draughtsman (Civil), Soil Conservation andRural Construction Technology, Auto Mechanic,Diesel Mechanic, Draughtsman (Mechanical),Farm Mechanics and Post Harvest Technology,Fitting, Foundry, General Machinist, MetalFinishing, Repair and maintenance ofRefrigeration and Air Conditioning Equipments,Repair and Maintenance of two wheelers, Sheetmetal Works, Tractor repair and Maintenance,Welding, Business Machines and ComputerProgramming, Domestic Electronic Equipmentand projection Equipment (Repairing andServicing) Electrical Domestic Appliances(Repairs and Maintenance), Electrical motorrewinding, Maintenance and servicing ofElectrical Machines including Generators,RadioTelevision (Maintenance & Repair), LeatherTechnology, Textile Technology, PrintingTechnology and Composing & PrintingTechnology.

(c) A Pass in HSC Examination (equivalent) fromany one of the authorised examination Boardwith Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry asthree of the four subject of study underpart III.

2.1B Qualifying Examination and Eligibility for B. ARCH

No candidate, with less than 50% marks in aggregate, shall be admitted to the architecture courseunless he / she has passed an examination at the end of the new 10+2 scheme of Senior SchoolCertificate Examination or equivalent with Mathematics as subjects of examination at the 10+2 level.

or10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central / State Governments with 50% aggregate marks.

or

International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks inaggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.

All admissions to Architecture degree course shall be subject to passing of National Aptitude Test inArchitecture (NATA) conducted by the Council of Architecture.

Note : When the candidates produce gradecertificates, they have to produce theactual marks also otherwise only theminimum marks applicable to the gradesin the eligible subjects (Mathematics,Physics and Chemistry) will be takeninto account.

Improvement marks will not be consideredincluding for other state candidates, as perG.O. No. 184 HE (J2) Dept. dt: 09.06.2005and G.O. (st) No.143 HE (J2) Dept.dt: 06.05.2008.

2.2 Applying for Professional Courses(B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch) Admissions 2016 isonly an enabling provision and does notmean that the Candidate satisfies all therequirements stipulated for admission to thevarious courses as listed above.

2.3 Post Matric Scholarship

In the G.O. (st) No. 6 Adi Dravidar and TribalWelfare (AD3) Department dated 09.01.2012,G.O. (st) No. 92 Adi Dravidar and TribalWelfare (AD3) Department dated 11.09.2012and G.O. (st) No. 16 Adi Dravidar and TribalWelfare (AD3) Department dated 24.02.2014,the Government have ordered to grant PostMatric Scholarship to SC/SCA/ST candidates,whose parental annual income is less than‘2,50,000/- and for SC/SCA convertedChristians annual income less than ‘2,00,000/-from all the sources shall only be eligible. Theeligible candidates have to submit incomecertificate obtained from appropriateauthorities and get the Post Matric Scholarshipfrom the colleges were they get admitted.

3.0 GUIDELINES TO FILL THE APPLICATIONCandidates desirous of applying ProfessionalCourses (B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch) Admissions2016 to the Consortium should file theirapplication in the prescribed format throughany of the following two modes:

1. In the prescribed application format byregistered post with acknowledgement dueonly.

2. Online direct mode

A. IN THE PRESCRIBED APPLICATIONFORMAT BY POST.You are provided with application form alongwith the cover for posting.

(i) The candidates have to f il l in theapplication form (Data Sheet) givenalong with the information brochure.

(ii) The completed application form (Data Sheet)along with the scruitinising, processing andranking fees (Refer Table - 1 for feeparticulars) in the form of a crossed demanddraft drawn in favour of “Consortium of SelfFinancing Professional, Arts and ScienceColleges in Tamilnadu” payable atchennai, obtained from any nationalisedbank with all enclosures should reach thefollowing address on or before 5.00 p.m. on18.07.2016 through speed post / registeredpost with acknowledegment due only.

Candidates residing outside Tamilnadu andwho could not reach the applicationdistribution centre to file applications, mayopt for this mode. The procedure is as follows:

(i) Go to any internet browsing centre

(ii) Log on to www.tnsfconsortium.org(iii) Read the instructions thoroughly by

downloading the Professional courses(B.E. / B.Tech / B.Arch) Admissions -2016Information Brochure and follow the steps.

(iv) For online registration of your application clickon B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch Admissions 2016online application.

(v) Open the application format and type therequired data. Verify whether all data arecorrectly entered.

(vi) Submit the application by clicking the submitbutton at the bottom of the application format

(vii) After a short time, your filled in applicationalong with an application number will appearon the monitor screen. By clicking the printbutton take printout of this application on aA4 size standard copier paper.

(viii) Affix your recently taken passport size colourphotograph in the application in the spaceprovided for this purpose.

(ix) Affix your signature in the application at thespace provided for this purpose.

(x) The completed application along with thescruitinising, processing and ranking fees(Refer Table -1 for Fee particulars) in the formof crossed demand draft drawn in favour of

4.0 MEMBER COLLEGE DETAILSThe details about the member colleges areavailable in the Website of the Consortium(www.tnsfconsortium.org) and respectivemember institutions websites.

5.0 INSTRUCTIONS TO FILL THEPROFESSIONAL COURSES (B.E. / B.Tech/B.Arch) - ADMISSIONS 2016APPLICATION FORM (DATA SHEET)

A. General Information

a) The six digit application number should benoted down by the candidate for futurereference. Instructions should be readcarefully before filling the data sheet. Asample filled in application form (data sheet)is given in Annexure I for reference. Rightmethod should be followed to darken thealphabet/numeral with HB pencil as shownin the data sheet.

b) The required information should be writtenby black ball point pen in rectangularboxes (wherever provided). Then theappropriate alphabet/numeral underneatheach box should be darkened using HBpencil.

c) The data sheet will be processed by amachine. The machine picks up only darkpencil marks. Therefore the alphabet/numeral should be darkened using HBpencil only. The sample filled in applicationform (data sheet) is given in Annexure I maybe referred to fill up the data sheet.

d) A wrong marking can be changed by erasingthe darkened spot completely and theappropriate alphabet/numeral should bedarkened.

e) The data sheet should not be spoiled,smudged, scribbled, torn or stapled. Nobell pins should be used. No markingshould be made anywhere on theapplication form.

f) Your photograph, signature, and addressgiven by you in the data sheet are to bescanned by a machine. The machinerecognizes only good quality images, fromthe specified areas of the data sheet.Therefore paste a good quality colourphotograph with light colour backgroundtaken not more than two months earlier, Useblack ball point only for writing your addressand affixing your signature

g) Please note that your name, your parent’s/guardian’s name, and your date of birthshould exactly be the same as given in your10 class certificate. Any deviation, wheneverfound, may lead to cancellation of yourcandidature.

h) All item nos. (from 2 to 24) in the data sheetshould be filled up by candidate in allaspects. The item Nos.21 b,c,d can be leftblank for candidates who belong to nonminority community. Silimlarly a candidateshould fill item No.16a or 16b dependingon his/her qualif ication. Incompleteapplication or application filled in a languageother than English will be summarily rejected.

i) Options filled by you in the application form(data sheet) cannot be changed at a laterstage.

B. Specific guidelines to fill up the variousitems of the application form (datasheet)

5.1. Item No. 2 : Name of the Candidate Thename should be written neatly and legiblyin capital letters as given in 10th classcertificate using black ball point pen.Singleletter should be written in a box. Then thecorresponding alphabet underneath each

box should be darkened using HB pencil. Ifyour name requires more then 30 boxes,darken the star(*) in the 31 column of thefirst row.

5.2. Item No. 3 :The date of birth should beentered as per English calendar and asrecorded in 10th class certificate. Numeralsfrom 01 to 31 should be used for date.Numerals from 01 to 12 should be used formonth. Last two digits of year of birth shouldbe used to fill the year. The correspondingboxes underneath for day, month & yearshould be darkened. The attested xeroxcopy of the Date of Birth proof should beenclosed.

5.3. Item No. 4 : PINCODE of yourcommunication address should be written inthe space provided as it will be entered inbox 14. The corresponding boxes should bedarkened underneath .

5.4. Item No. 5 : PINCODE of your permanentresidence should be written in the spaceprovided. The corresponding numeralsunderneath should be darkened.

5.5. Item No. 6 : The corresponding numbershould be entered in the box and theappropriate numeral should be darkened foroccupation.

5.6. Item No. 7 : The corresponding numbershould be entered in the box and theappropriate numeral should be darkened forincome of the parent/guardian.

5.7. Item No. 8 : Appropriate numeral givenagainst the community should be written inthe box and the corresponding numeralsshould be darkened.

5.8. Item No. 9 to 13 : The appropriate numbershould be entered in the box and thecorresponding numerals should bedarkened.

5.9 Item No. 14 : Name & Residential Addressfor communication should be written neatlyand legibly in capital letters using black ballpoint pen Single letter should be written in

a box. Much care should be taken whilefilling the address. A recent passport sizecolour photograph should be affixed in theprovided box.

5.10. Item No. 15 : Candidate should affix theirsignature(within the provided box) usingblack ball point pen.

5.11. Item No. 16a : HSC academic/equivalentpassed students with subjects Maths,Physics, Chemistry and fourth optionalsubject should enter the subject marksobtained by them and maximum marks foreach subject in the respective box and thecorresponding numerals underneath shouldbe darkened. Group code should be enteredas in the +2 Mark sheet.

5.12 Item No. 16b : This should be filled by thestudents those who have studied H.S.C.Vocational group only with Maths or Physicsor Chemistry as the related subject.

a) Related subject and VocationalSubjects (e.g. 1)

(i) If the maximum marks in the related subject(say Mathematics) is 200 and the marksobtained is 95, they should be entered inrelated Subject I column and the relatedsubject II column should be left as blank.

(ii) If the Vocational Subject consists of onetheory and two practicals and if themaximum marks are 200, 200, 200 and themarks obtained are 180, 190, 200respectively. They should be entered in (i)Vocational Theory (ii) Vocational Practical Iand (iii) Vocational Practical - II columnsrespectively.

b) Related subject and Vocational

(i) If the maximum marks in the two relatedsubjects (say Mathematics and Physics) are200 each and the marks obtainedare190,185 respectively, they should beentered in related subject I and relatedsubject II columns respectively.

(ii) If the Vocational Subject consists of onetheory and one practical and if the maximummarks are 200 and 200 and the marks

obtained are 172 and 180 respectively, thenthey should be entered in vocational theoryand vocational practical I column and thevocational practical II column should be leftas blank. Group code should be entered asin the +2 Mark sheet.

5.13 Item No. 17(a) : Code No. of the ExaminationBoard should be entered as per theAnnexure II and the corresponding numeralsshould be darkened if the candidate belongsto HSC (Academic / Equivalent).

5.14 Item No. 17(b) : Code No. of the Vocationalsubjects should be entered as per theAnnexure III and the corresponding numeralsshould be darkened if the candidate belongsto HSC (Vocational)

5.15 Item No. 18 : If a candidate has passed theHSC (Academic / Vocational / Equivalent)exam in the first attempt, or by improvementexam, he/she has to write the number in thebox provided and darken the correspondingnumerals.

5.16 Item No. 19 : The Candidate should enterthe register number of the HSC (Academic /Vocational / Equivalent) of the final attemptin the box and the corresponding numeralsshould be darkened. If the Register numberhas any alphabet it should be written in thefirst box (shading of the alphabet is notnecessary). Numbers should be writtenfollwed by the alphabet. If the number of digitsare less then eleven first few boxes can beleft as blank.

If the Register number has no alphabet, thefirst box can be left as blank. If the number ofdigits are less then eleven first few boxes canbe left as blank. Month and Year shoul beentered and the corresponding numeralsshould be darkened.

5.17. Item No. 20: Mobile number should beentered and appropriate box should bedarkened

5.18. Item No. 21a & 21b: Appropriate box shouldbe darkened.

5.19 Item No. 21c & 21d: This item is applicableonly for the candidates who belong tominority community. Non minority candidatesneed not fill this item and can be left blank.

5.20 Item No. 22 : Write the name of the bank,place of bank, DD Amount, DD number andDD Date neatly and legibly.

5.21 Item No.23: The number should be enteredand the corresponding numeral should bedarkned.

5.22. Item No. 24: DECLARATION:

Place, Date, Name, Mobile No. Phone No.and E.Mail ID should be written neatly andthe declaration should be signed by boththe candidate & Parent / Guardian.

The application form (Data Sheet) withoutthe signatures of candidate and signatureof Parent/Guardian is liable to be rejectedwithout any further correspondence.

IMPORTANT POINTS :

1. Your Applicaton Number is the RegistrationNumber of the Professional Courses(B.E / B.Tech /B.Arch) Admissions 2016,hence you have to write the Applicationnumber and your name in all the enclosuresenclosed along with the main application atthe top right hand corner.

2. A Candidate needs to submit only oneapplication for all the courses irrespectiveof the category.

3. The Candidates are required to enclose onlythe attested xerox copies of the followingcertificates along with the filled in applicationform (Data Sheet) :

a) Mark Sheet of 10th Standard.

b) Mark Sheets (All appearance) of HSC(Academic / Vocational / Equivalent)Examination.

c) Permanent Community Certificate card,Minority Certificate (if any).

d) Proof of Date of Birth certificate issued bycompetant authority.

e) Transfer Certificate

Arch) Admissions2016 will not be responsible for any delayin Post or otherwise in respect of receipt ofapplication after the due date. No furthercorrespondence will be entertained onmatters pertaining to the ProfessionalCourses (B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch) Admissions2016.

7. Community Certificate obtained from otherstates will not be considered for communalreservation.

8. Candidates are advised to post thecompleted application by speed post /registered post with acknowledgement duewell in advance so that it will reach theconsortium office before the last date forsubmission of filled in application form.

9. Candidates must write their ApplicationNumber and their Name on the back side ofthe Demand Draft, and also on the righthand top corner of all the copies ofcertificates enclosed.

10 . Xerox copy of the filled in application form(Data Sheet) and Demand draft can beretained by the candidates for futurereference.

11. Do not punch or staple the Data Sheet. Donot fold, smudge or scribble on the Datasheet.

12. The Data sheet should be kept loosely andsafely and sent in the same cover providedfor this purpose.

13. All enclosures can be stapled together, butthe Data sheet should be keptseparately in the same cover along withthe enclosures.

14. The SC / SCA / ST candidates belonging toTamilnadu desirous of availing feeconcession should submit an attested xeroxcopy of the permanent community certificatecard.

15. Individual Application form should beenclosed with prescribed fee (Refer Table1). Bulk Application & DD with BulkAmount will not be accepted

16. All the columns on both sides of theApplication Form (Data Sheet) must be filledwithout fail.

17. Xerox copies of the Application Form (DataSheet) should not be used.
