EL) UCA 7 IONA L COMMI TTEE REPORT.

DURING the past half-year, the Committee have endeavoured in their respectiveDepartments to fulfil one of the Objects of our Society, viz. :—"To provide the Domestic,Social and Intellectual Advancement of its Members.

"For we submit the Consumer must

play his part in solving the social problems of the day.

- Only through a United and Educated Co-operative Movement can the Consumerfulfil his high destiny.

As will be noted in the Balance Sheet, financial assistance is granted to our Menand Women's Guilds.

These Guild Meetings endeavour to arouse, maintain, and increase interest in the'

'development of the Co-operative Movement.

If you are not a member, why not join a Branch of the Guild in your district)

- Propagarida Meetings have been held in the Rural Districts. With the co-operationof our Choir, Branch Committees, and Branch Managers, many people in the villages have

., heard of the benefits of our Society, thus spending a profitable and pleasant evening.

Members of our Library have appreciated the addition of new books, we hope topurchase more.

The Senior and Junior Choirs have had a successful Session.

In the Co-operative Choral Festival at Birmingham, two members of the Choir:Miss D. Eyres, Mr. W. Lofthousegobtained Gold jMedals in$jtheir respective Gasses.Messrs. Spalding and Smith secured Second Prize in the Duet Class. The Choir obtainedfifth place out of 13 entrants.

The Juniorv&Choir comprises over 50 members. Our girls and boys sang well

in the Junior Festival at Mansfield, obtaining Third Prize.

The Lantern Lectures which were arranged have been well patronised

The Gymnasium Classes have catered for the physical development of our member'schildren. Three full dasses having been held each week during the tenn.

The sales of operative Literature is disappointing, considering the membershipof the Society;

The General Secretary of the Co-operative Union states.' "A 100 per cent.Co-operator implies a thorough support of the Co-operative Press and its publications.

".Let us make a New Year Resolution by placing an order at our Branch or the Library for theCo-operative Navs, and our Ladies, the IVomen's Outlooit. We shall thenprogress our movement is making.

On behalf of the Committee,

GEO. MARTIN, Secretary.

(e) Our new premises in Free School Lane are prod:eading satisfactorily. The new Fish, Game and Pouttry

most up-to-date in the County, and we shall have for sale a greater variety of fish, game and poultry, and thus

enable us to supply the varied needs of our Members. We hope to have the other departments ready for business

in the very near future, and appeal for your continued loyalty and support to these new premises.

(/) We are pleased to report a continued increase in the sale of milk, which is now being extended to some

Country Districts. The Dairy is capable of a much larger output, and we are looking forward to a still wider range

of support from our Members in the near hzture. We have now commenced the sale of Ice-Cream in the streets

of the City. In addition bricks and cartons of Ice Cream are on sale at our various Grocery Branches. We
