Assessment• Pre-Placement Formative & Summative Assessments (15%): Students work on a number of in-class

assignments covering essential skills; workplace health & safety; in class discussions; WHMIS certification; Orientation to Safety; and will have a written test demonstrating understanding of topics covered.

• Employer Progress Report & Time Logs (40%): Students are required to document daily, and pass in weekly, a time log signed by their supervisor, stating hours worked and activities performed. Logs are marked on punctuality and accurate documentation. Employers will provide students with formative feedback at midterm, and complete a final assessment based upon employable skills identified as being essential. This will be done by the supervisor in consultation with the co-op teacher.

• Journals (10%): Students are required to complete a total of ten journals on assigned topics relating to their co-op workplace. Journals are initially marked on content and are to be later revised and placed in portfolio.

• Career Research Paper (10%): Students are to conduct research on the career/job they hope to do following graduation. Pending interest and availability for placement, this may or may not be the same career choice as they are placed for co-op.

• Portfolio (15%): Encompassing all experiences, in and out of school, students will compile data, pictures, letters, awards, etc. to demonstrate to potential employer essential skills including fundamental, personal management and teamwork.

• Presentation (10%): Students will present an overview of their co-op placement experience, encouraging audience participation through hands-on learning activities and assessment.
