COAL MINING MUSEUM IN ZABRZE

Unikátní projekt Dolu GUIDO a města Zabrze

Ostrava, October 2013 Magdalena Szczypkowska

The first mine was built in Zabrze in 1791 and after the II World War the city was named the “capital of the Polish mining”.

It was not a coincidence that the first Coal Mining Museum was built in Zabrze in 1981 – firstly as the one and only national museum of this kind in Poland.

Since April 2nd 2013 the Coal Mining Museum in Zabrze is a single entity, established on the basis of merging the Historic Guido Coal Mine with the former Coal Mining Museum, Queen Louise Mine and Main Key Hereditary Adit excavations.
