Dear Parents,

What a marvelous two weeks we have had on The Mountain! October 10th to November 4th

Please bring in a box of stuffing to support

The Place’s Thanksgiving Assistance program.

Boxes have been placed in the lobby where students can

drop off their boxed stuffing donations.

Let’s work together to make this Thanksgiving holiday great

for families in our community.

The holiday season will be here soon! In Forsyth County, we have a tradition of working

together to take care of those in our community. Last year a partnership between the local

businesses, non-profit agencies, faith community, and school system resulted in the Holiday

House program. This year we will continue Holiday House format where parents can shop for

gifts for their children. We hope to provide assistance to families again this year with the

generous support of our faith, business, and school communities.

Who: Parents may sign up children who are 18 or younger (high school aged children must be

enrolled in school). Families will need to provide documentation that they receive or are at the

income level to qualify for Medicaid or Food Stamps. A current Medicaid/Food Stamps letter or

pay stubs may be used for documentation. Children must live in Forsyth County to receive

assistance. A donation of $3 per child is appreciated to assist with community needs.

When: Families will need to bring their income documentation when they sign up. October 27th from 12 pm to 6 pm at Christ the King Lutheran Church (1125 Bettis Tribble Gap Rd,

Cumming, GA)

October 28th from 9 am to 12 Noon at The Vine Community Church (4655 Bethelview Rd, Cumming, GA)

November 3rd from 9 am to 12 Noon at Midway Community Church (3365 Francis Road, Alpharetta, GA)

November 5th from 9 am to noon at the Almon C. Hill Educational Center (136 Elm Street, Cumming, GA)

November 8th to December 1st from 9 am to 5 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays (Except the week of

Thanksgiving) at The Place of Forsyth (2550 The Place Cir, Cumming GA)

Where: Parents may shop at Holiday House at Freedom Tabernacle at an assigned date and

time in December. Children three and older will not be allowed in the shopping area. A

supervised crafts and activity area will be provided to children while their parents shop for gifts.

*The program is a community initiative, so there is no guarantee of child/family confidentiality.*

Community Holiday House

Gracias o Thanksgiving) The Place de Forsyth (2550 The Place Cir, Cumming GA)

JUMP ROPE for HEART

We kicked off our annual Jump Rope for Heart campaign with an school wide assembly

last week! Our students are learning what it means to be a Heart Hero by taking care

of their own heart, spreading the message of the American Heart Association, and

raising funds for lifesaving research. Jump Rope for Heart letters and

donation envelopes were sent home last week. The jump rope for

heart donation envelopes are due Thursday, November 10.

Students may also raise donations by emailing friends and family

members who can donate online by

visiting www.heart.org/jump. All students, regardless of whether or not

they collect donations, will participate in our Jump Rope for Heart event during their

regularly scheduled PE class the week of November 7 - 10. During the event, students

will compete in a jump rope contest, jump and turn the long ropes, and visit several

other jump themed centers. They will have fun with their classmates while exercising

their hearts!

Birthday / Special Occasion Book Club

We will be changing our birthday / special occasion book club at Coal Mountain. This is a

great way to help out our school library and at the same time honor the birthday / special

occasion of your child. At the beginning of your child’s birthday / special occasion month, your

child will be able to choose a book from a special new book collection. The book will receive a

unique inscription inside with your child’s name and birth date. Your child will be the very first

to check it out from the library. In addition, a picture will be taken of your child with their book

and hung on the Birthday/Special Occasion Book Club display in the lunchroom. (We will honor June and July birthdays / special occasions in May, and next years

August birthdays / special occasions in September.)

Please complete the form and return it with $17.00.

(Checks made out to Coal Mountain Elementary and please include your phone number on the check)
