Amendment No. 1, May 2002 to the CSI MasterFormat (1995 edition)endorsed as CP 93 : 2002 – Code of practice for classification ofconstruction resources information

0 Introduction

The national endorsement of the CSI MasterFormat (1995 edition) as a Singapore Standard presentsto the construction industry a uniform system for classifying information relating to constructionproducts, materials, services and machinery. As construction projects use a broad range of productsand services, there is even greater need for a classification standard to ensure a consistent andstructured way of information exchange and storage to reduce any duplication of work.

In view of the need to align the CSI MasterFormat (1995 edition) with local practice, this nationalamendment is prepared to highlight deviations from the CSI MasterFormat (1995 edition):

1 Scope

The scope of the National Amendment is described by the following deviations from the CSIMasterFormat (1995 edition):

(a) uses a 6-digit numbering, instead of the 5-digit;

(b) includes new titles;

(c) re-names titles; and

(d) provides equivalent local terminology.

3 Structure of numbering system

In this National Amendment, a 6-digit numbering system is proposed to define the hierarchicalorganisation of titles by level within each division, including titles at level four.

6-DIGIT NUMBERING SYSTEM(Singapore Standard)

DIVISION LEVELTwo

LEVELThree

LEVELFour

0 1 5 1 0 1

Temporary Electricity (015101)

Temporary Utilities (015100)

Temporary Facilities and Controls (015000)

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (010000)

The CSI MasterFormat (1995 edition) titles are numbered with 5 digits except for those at level fourwhich users should create numbers by interpolating between assigned numbers when using level fourtitles or creating new titles.

5-DIGIT NUMBERING SYSTEM(CSI MasterFormat, 1995 ed.)

DIVISION LEVEL Two

LEVEL Three

0 1 5 1 0

Temporary Utilities (01510)

Temporary Facilities and Controls (01500)

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (01000)

Page 9: CODE OF PRACTICE FOR CLASSIFICATION OF CONSTRUCTION ...

At the broadest level, the classification has been organised into 16 divisions. The 6-digit numberingand titles of the Divisions are given as follows:

DIVISION 1 010000 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

DIVISION 2 020000 SITE CONSTRUCTION

DIVISION 3 030000 CONCRETE

DIVISION 4 040000 MASONRY

DIVISION 5 050000 METALS

DIVISION 13 130000 SPECIAL CONSTRUCTION

DIVISION 14 140000 CONVEYING SYSTEMS

DIVISION 15 150000 MECHANICAL

DIVISION 16 160000 ELECTRICAL

Level two of the hierarchy is the broadest grouping of related requirements, products and activitieswithin a Division. Level two numbers generally end with three zeros “000”. Some examples are givenas follows:

031000 Concrete Forms and Accessories

032000 Concrete Reinforcement
