Codes and conventions• The conventions of the thriller genre are to do with sound
and editing. e.g. quick cuts and camera angle changes with music that gives tension.
• It can also be lighting, especially the use of shadow, mirrors and stairs are also conventions of thriller movies. For example: The Dark Knight
Codes and conventions• Phone Booth in particular is a thriller that does not play to
the conventions of a thriller film. Phone Booth is a 2002 American suspense/psychological thriller film about a man who is held hostage in a telephone booth by a sniper.
• It avoids darkness and shadow etc. The way it does link to a standard conventions is the story from the killers point of view; as the audience you are made to feel sorry for the male protagonist. Also you are told the story with the use of flashback and quick passed editing.
