Pizza pizzazz: Talk about a large pizza! Over 100 pizza chefs in Naples, Italy, made one of the largest-ever pizzas when they got together to create a Neapolitan fried pizza. This kind has savory ingredients wrapped up inside the crust. The chefs used 83 kilograms (183 pounds) of flour, 50 kilograms (110 lbs.) of mozzarella cheese, and 7 kilograms (15 lbs.) of tomato sauce. They filled the inside with such toppings as green peppers, bacon, and basil. The whole concoction ended up being over seven meters (23 feet) long! An extra long vat, filled with boiling oil, had to be used to cook the creation. Wrong roof: It was a case of mistaken house identity in Lehigh Acres, Florida (US), when a roofing company’s employees got to work on the wrong house. Pearl Northrup, a resident in the home, was shocked to find the workers removing the roof because her landlord had not alerted her that the job was planned for that day. That’s because the landlord, Sarah Fritchey, had not ordered the work! Turns out the roofers had punched in the wrong address into their GPS on their way to the site. The work was stopped, and the roofers were told by their boss to go back up and fix the damage. Pet parents: For employees of a company in Norway who have just become new “parents” of a pet, paternity leave is now available. Musti Group, a pet supply company, decided to give its staff members three days of paid leave to look after a new furry friend that has joined their family. Company managers contend that, when a new pet arrives, bonding time is important. Also, it takes a lot of time to look after baby animals in those first few days, not to mention that owners may be kept up at night by mischievous pups or crying kittens. Sharing the shower: When you decide to take a shower, you probably don’t want to share the shower stall with a wild animal. But that’s what a family in the Vancouver suburb of Ladner, British Columbia (Canada), was confronted with. Somehow, an opossum, a small marsupial, got into the family’s home and decided that the shower would be a good place to hide. Police were called to come and help deal with the problem. The opossum was none too pleased at all the attention, and took a defensive posture, which made the job quite difficult. Eventually, the critter was caught and released back into the wild. But a Jamaican woman decided she didn’t want to berecognized after she won $1.4 million (USD) in a lottery.During the presentation of her large check, the woman, knownas N. Gray, donned an enormous, round, yellow, smiling emojimask, complete with a winking eye. There is no way anyonewould ever recognize her! The woman, who won the money ina Super Lotto game, told organizers that she plans to carry onwith life as usual. She won’t quit her job, but she may go on acruise just for fun.Saving the child: A brave ex-soldier from Huaihua, HunanProvince (China), completed a daring civilian rescue after hesaw a child in danger on a fifth floor window of an apartmentcomplex. Zhang Xin used window grill bars to climb to thechild, who was dangling precariously, while worried onlookerswatched from below. Some of the onlookers managed to get atarp in place beneath him in case he fell, but he didn’t! Uponreaching the fifth floor, he managed to push the crying toddlerback into the apartment. Furry baby: When fully grown, a bear is unlikely to be mistakenfor a dog. But what about when they are babies? A man fromYongsheng County, Yunnan Province (China), did just that. When he was out looking for wild mushrooms, he came across alittle puppy, or so he thought. He took the pup home andlooked after it, but must have realized something was amisswhen the puppy grew into a very large Asian bear, which is aprotected species. The man kept the bear in a cage, but tookgood care of it. Someone reported him, and authorities claimedthe bear. The man was not fined because he was cooperativeand the bear was in good health.Escaped pigs: A security camera revealed that, in the middle ofthe night, two pigs appeared at a gas station in Upper Coomera,Queensland (Australia). When the sun came up, the porky beastsgreeted amused customers and staff, many of whom took photos. The pigs spent several hours checking out people and cars. They also enjoyed rutting around in a garden before taking anap. It turns out that the friendly, but mischievous, pair had gottenaway from their owner’s home, located not far from the gasstation. The owner soon arrived on the scene to pick up thetwo curly-tailed beasts.
