SSAA Illawarra committee wishes to remind its members that when they sign on at the rangethey are stating their intention to participate and pay full range fees. If the member does notcomply with both these conditions it becomes an invalid sign on in accordance with theFirearms Regulations Act.
Our new signon books can be somewhat confusing. Please note that you must cross or tickeither/and T for target, H for hunting or C for collecting. There is a provision to record yourFirearms License number but this is only recorded if you attend a range without Target beingon your membership.
Due to privacy and security reasons, members will not be required to record their addresson the Visitors Signon Book at the Illawarra Pistol Club. Simply place “SSAA” in that spaceprovided.
Between July and March 2014, we have scheduled 5 General Meetings, including the SpecialGeneral Meeting and the AGM. For most months we will be holding 2 shoots per month.
This should be ample opportunity for members to honour their legally required attendances. Please do not leave this to the last minute. Also remember to retain your signons as in some cases it will be necessary to prove your attendances.

It is intended to propose, as a special resolution:
"That the SSAA (NSW) Illawarra Branch Inc adopt the revised Standard BranchConstitution in the same form as that located on the SSAA (NSW) Inc website www.ssaansw.org.au, as its constitution in replacement of its existingconstitution and for the Branch Committee to notify the NSW Registry of Co-operatives and Associations accordingly."
As you are probably aware the last twelve months has been reviewing constitutionsfor both SSAA NSW and Member Branches. At the State AGM held on 4th & 5th Maythe revised SSAA NSW Constitution was adopted with a few amendments and theStandard Branch Constitution was also endorsed with a couple of amendments.
The revised Standard Branch Constitution will enable all SSAA NSW MemberBranches to operate under the same set of rules. At present, Member Branchesare operating under quite a number of varied constitutions which makes itextremely dicult to ensure consistency for our members.
In order to adopt this Constitution we need to have a minimum of 50 memberspresent at this meeting. If we do not have enough members present, we will needto postpone the meeting and then print and post another letter of notice for thefollowing month.
This will be an added expense that the committee does not wish to see.
Copies of the proposed new Standard Branch Constitution can be accessed by sending anemail to: [email protected] stating your full name and membership number.Or by visiting the SSAA NSW website http://www.ssaansw.org.au

Hilltop Update!800 Metre RangeWe have been waiting since early this year for Wingecarribee Shire Council to approve the erection of sound baing at the 800 and 400 metres ring mounds. When this occurs the baes with be erected and centrere shooting can recommence. If the council does not respond to the matter by mid-May it will be passed to the Joint Regional Planning Panel who is empowered to exercise the functions of council.
500 Metre RangeAs previously reported the range does not comply with the Firearm’s Registry’s requirements and the Government through the Sport and Recreation Dept is negotiating with the contractor GHD to rectify the situation so the range does comply. There are apparently disagreements as to who is to blame and who is going to pay to rectify this. The Shooters and Fishers Party are continuing to negotiate with the Government to fund completion of the facility.

The new look SSAA Illawarra website is now up and running. I encourage you to go online and explore the new site. I would like to thank members for their patience during the change over period. A new site has been created that is much easier to manage and enables updates and changes to be made at any time with relative ease. It was important to nd a site design that could be changed regularly and at short notice so that members have a reliable point of reference for details on coming events and check on recent event scores.
The site will be updated and scores uploaded after each event. You will nd a page that has information for new members and those wishing to partici-pate in our sport. There are also several
other interesting pages including a gallery that is slowly coming together and should become a valuable resource. If you have any photos from previous events please forward these to [email protected] so they can be shared. Please remember that we need permission from parents if they are of people under 18.
It is important to remember that the site is a work in progress and is designed for members. If you have any suggestions in regards to its layout, functions and information presented please contact me and I will try to make the appropri-ate adjustments.
