One of the best things for me
this summer was that 2016
was an Olympic year. There is
no end to the inspiring and
heart-warming stories of
athletes from around the
world who work so hard to be
at the pinnacle of what they
love most. Some end in glory,
yet so many others end in
disappointment, but the
perseverance and sense of
accomplishment for those
fortunate enough to be able to
keep things in perspective is
equally inspiring. What a gift
for any individual to have...to
be able to identify your
passions and do what it takes
to make your personal goals a
reality. These are great lessons
for anyone, but for High
School students in particular.
Medal counts and world
records aside, there is
excitement in every Olympic
competition largely because of
the undercurrent of Olympic
ideals and spirit that emerge
constantly throughout the
Olympic Games. The Olympic
ideals of excellence, friendship
and respect are applicable to
people worldwide and should
resonate with everyone in our
school community.
Sure the Olympics have their
flaws with incidents of cheating
and corruption, but those
Olympic ideals always seem to

Principal’s Message their phones so much while at school. Those who can
refrain from being distracted by their phones will see an
improvement in their achievement and it will no doubt
have a positive impact on the learning of
others. Developing good habits now will serve students
well when they get out into the world of work too!
Wednesday, September 28th at 7:00 pm will be our first
school Council Meeting of the year, and I invite all parents
and guardians to attend. Meetings are informative and we
try to keep them fairly short!

another great year. Lots going on all around the school as
always. Please encourage your child to get involved -
there’s something for just about everyone! We are getting
around to all the grades as an introduction to the year, but
we are also asking that all students begin to take on the
responsibility of really trying to limit (or stop altogether)
their phone use in class. Cell phones have become
incredibly distracting to the learning environment, even in
spite of our efforts to police phone usage. I feel we are at
a point in the smartphone continuum where students need
to begin to take the initiative and responsibility themselves
to find a way that works for them to not have to be on

Students’ Union Update
Hi and welcome back, from Students’ Union. My name is Lyuba Miroshnichenko and I am the Student Union president of 2016-2017. This year we have two lovely vice presidents, Andi Bauer and Kaitlyn Chappell.
What is Students’ Union? Students’ Union is a group that hosts events throughout the year to encourage students to make new friends, embrace healthy choices and to get involved around the school and the community. We often support other groups around the school and are always volunteering to help. This year our goal is to promote school spirit and make High School a positive experience for all. We are always looking for new members and hope to see you at our meetings on Wednesdays in room 108.
If you want to receive reminder messages about upcoming events or theme days, please text 587-316-6187 with the message @3ak4cf. SU hopes everyone has a fantastic year!
Student Parking Student parking rules have been adjusted this year in response to some of the frustrations experienced by students last year and based on student input. This year, all students are eligible to park at school but, in order to park in student parking, students must display a parking pass that is applied for through PowerSchool Parent Portal. Parking spots are now claimed on a daily first-come first-served basis. Students who do not arrive in time for a parking stall will have to find another legal parking spot either in Four Seasons Park or in unrestricted residential areas. Parking passes can be revoked if students are observed driving dangerously. Please note that during September and part of October, as well as the appropriate spring months, we have reserved the first two stalls in student parking for motorcycles and scooters.

Efficiency was not the Beaumont Bandits football team’s strong suit in the season opener against East Glen, and the penalties we took hindered us. Our young team learned a lot and though they lost, they were not defeated. The second game of the season proved some lessons learned and the boys seemed to capitalize on their strengths. They defeated Queen E. 43-0. Even though it was a rainy evening, the fans cheered under their umbrellas and blankets.
Next games are on Thursday, September 22nd, 7:30 at the JP Bowl, Friday, Sept 30th, 5pm at the Emerald Hills Regional Park, and Thursday, October 6th, 5pm at the JP Bowl again. We hope to see the fans out to cheer on our boys. If your son is interested in playing football, it’s not too late, speak to coach Lepps today!
