"CJQ" stands for the Collaboration Jazz Quartet. It is my favorite jazz group to play with currently. We really admire each others playing, so when we get together, the sparks fly! Just as The Imperial Duo consists of two pianists, depending on who`s available, CJQ consists of two pianists and two bassists. My steady drummer/percussionist, Mark DeRose, and I play with either pianist Homei Matsumoto and bassist Toru Kase, or with pianist Hiroshi Tanaka and bassist Michio Takanashi. It`s an exciting collaboration, the best mix of Japanese and American players. The group is like one happy musical family - a mutually enjoyable collaboration, and the audience can see the fun we have! We play an impressive array of standard jazz, original material, and a few lesser known but brilliant songs, by composers Wes Montgomery, Cedar Walton, Horace Silver, Frank Wess, or Joe Henderson. The group is adaptable to play in a wide variety of settings, including clubs, concerts, private parties and corporate events. CJQ (Collaboration Jazz Quartet) グレッグ・チャコは米国出身のジャズ・ギタリスト／作曲家であり、これまでにバンドリーダーとして７枚 のCD、６本のビデオを発表している。過去15年間、ジャズやクラシックをフェスティバル、コンサート、ク ラブ、ホテル、また個人的なパーティーにて演奏をしてきたが、1995年から2001年のシンガポールでの 創作意欲溢れる活動は特に高く評価されている。2004年から日本で活動を始め、今回のCDは2005年 に日本で初めてリリースしたオリジナル14曲で構成されているCD、"WhereWeFindOurselves"に続く２ 枚目となる。現在、横浜市在住で、東京都内、横浜市内のライブハウス、有名企業のパーティーにて演 奏を行っている。彼が生み出すクリアで叙情的な響きは、ウェス・モンゴメリーと同じスタイル、つまりピ ックを使わない親指を使った奏法で生み出される。彼のコード進行は瑞々しく、まるでピアニストのよう であり、彼が作曲した作品は、印象的でリズミカルであると批評家達によって高く評価されている。 Greg Chako / guitar htt p://www.gregc ニューヨーク生まれ。バークリー音楽院で学士号を取得。アレックス・アカーニャ、ドン・アライヤスに師 事。日野晧正、ドン・アライヤス、ルー・タバーキン、マリーン、白井貴子、飛鳥 (チャゲ＆飛鳥) 、小柳ゆ き、錦織健、東儀秀樹等と共演。また、自身のバンド「打の美」を率いて、「マウントフジ・ジャズ・フェステ ィバル」「オーシャン・ビュー・ジャズ・フェスティバル」「ニューポート・ジャズ・フェスティバル」等へ出演す るほか、ＮＨＫ教育テレビや小学生向け教育ビデオの音楽、アニメーションのサウンドトラックの作曲、 編曲および監督を手掛けている。 htt p://www.markderose.com Mark DeRose / drums
