Fourth Sunday of Easter

From Fr. Paul…From Fr. Paul…From Fr. Paul…From Fr. Paul…

Dear Friends,

Today, the Fourth Sunday of Easter, is informally known as "Good Shepherd Sunday" because Jesus in today's Gospel refers to Himself as the Good Shepherd. We thank the Lord for His care for His flock, and we also thank those who shepherd us in His name, especially our bishops, priests, and religious.

Good Shepherd Sunday is the annual World Day of Prayer for Vocations in the Church throughout the world. We pray especially for vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and religious life. We hope that men and women from right here in our parishes will hear the Lord calling them to serve Him in a special way.

On this Mothers' Day, we give thanks to and pray for our mothers, living and deceased, for the gift of life and for the many gifts they have given us every day. We include in our prayers our grandmothers, godmothers, spiritual mothers, and all women who nurture us in any way. We are blessed to have many women in both parishes who serve us week after week and day after day. Thank you!

Father Paul

The Annual Mother’s Day Rose for Life Drive will take place after all the Masses on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12. The cost of the roses has gone up over the years, but we are still just asking for a donation of $1.00 for each silk rose – more if you can! All proceeds to benefit the educational and lobbying efforts of Massachusetts Citizens for Life to defend the Right to Life of the unborn, the disabled and the elderly.

Flowers that Bloom in May! As you know, we have been very

blessed at St. Joseph’s for a number of years, with folks who have donated our beautiful hanging baskets as gifts in honor of loved ones.

Specifically, each year we have purchased six beautiful hanging baskets of flowers for the poles on the plaza in front of St. Joseph Church.

If you would like to donate a flower basket in honor of a loved one ($75.00 per basket), please contact the parish office by Friday, May 17th at 781-396-0423. As always, all gifts will be entered in our Book of Remembrance in the church foyer. Thank you so much!

Presentation on Our Lady of America Sunday, May 19

th at St. Raphael

Did you know that our Blessed Mother appeared to a nun in the United States beginning in 1956 with messages that are relevant to the times we are living in now? Our Lady of America said, “I desire through my children of America, to further the cause of faith and purity among peoples and nations.” You are invited to learn more about Sister Ephrem and the archbishop who promoted the devotion, the role of St. Joseph, the meaning of Divine Indwelling, the promise of graces to be granted and the connection to the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.

Please attend a talk by Mary Jo Ridge following the 11:30 Mass on Sunday, May 19th at St.

Raphael Parish hall. There will be coffee and homemade baked goods. Each attendee will also receive blessed prayer cards, a short summary of the devotion and a newsprint copy of Sr. Ephrem’s diary.
