Dear Friends,

We wish all our boys and girls a good school year filled with learning, personal growth, and good friendship. May our young people going away to college be blessed in their new adventures. And, we offer a special "welcome back" to our St. Joseph School students and teachers, including our new principal, Dr. Robert Murphy.

Religious education classes and activities will resume this month in each parish. Parents, please register your child/children as soon as possible. Please contact one of our Religious Ed Coordinators, Doreen Breen (781-396-0423, [email protected]) or Mea Mustone (781-396-3400, [email protected]).

Please continue to pray for Father Ed Doughty, who has taken a health leave and resigned as pastor of our collaborative parishes, which he announced at the Masses on August 22. He regrets that he cannot continue here as pastor, but his first priority now is recovering his health. To send Father Ed a thank-you card or note, please send it to either rectory and we will forward your correspondence.

We look back with gratitude at the beautiful summer that is quickly coming to a close. May this new school year be a time for new resolutions, new hope, and a renewed trust in our Lord Jesus who continues to work in our lives. For some extra inspiration, pay attention to the news reports about Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who will be canonized a saint this Sunday, September 4.

St. Joseph Parish Annual Parish Concert

The music ministry invites you to join us on Sunday afternoon, October 23, 2015 at 2PM in the upper church, for our St. Joseph Parish Annual Concert. Both our Adult and Youth Choirs and The Messengers (our young adult music group) will perform, accompanied by organ and instrumentalists, with vocal and instrumental solos, as well as an opportunity for the audience to join with us in singing!

This year's program is being dedicated to Prayer for World Peace and a portion of the proceeds from our concert program ad book will be donated to “Doctors Without Borders.”

There will be a luncheon in the social center following the concert, catered by Carroll's Restaurant in Medford (kindness of parishioner Victor Garo). Please note: when you arrive for the concert, you will receive a voucher which will enable you to attend the luncheon.

For more information, please e-mail Betsy at [email protected] or call 781-391-1457 (office) or 617-335-8155 (cell).

Pope Francis’ Prayer for the

Jubilee Year of Mercy

Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be

merciful like the heavenly Father, and have

told us that whoever sees you sees Him. Show

us your face and we will be saved. Your loving

gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from

being enslaved by money; the adulteress and

Magdalene from seeking happiness only in

created things; made Peter weep after his

betrayal, and assured Paradise to the

repentant thief. Let us hear, as if addressed to

each one of us, the words that you spoke to

the Samaritan woman: "If you knew the gift of

God!"

You are the visible face of the invisible Father,

of the God who manifests his power above all

by forgiveness and mercy: let the Church be

your visible face in the world, its Lord risen

and glorified. You willed that your ministers

would also be clothed in weakness in order

that they may feel compassion for those in

ignorance and error: let everyone who

approaches them feel sought after, loved, and

forgiven by God.

Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of

us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of

Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord,

and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm,

may bring good news to the poor, proclaim

liberty to captives and the oppressed, and

restore sight to the blind.

We ask this through the intercession of Mary,

Mother of Mercy, you who live and reign with

the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and

ever. Amen.

Please consider sharing your faith, time and

talents with our parish children. It is not as

difficult as you might think & we will train

you. Commitment would be once a month

or February Vacation.

Boston Priests. There for us.

At Saint Stephen Parish in Framingham, the lively multicultural community with a strong Hispanic presence has become an extension of Fr. Francisco “Paco” Anzoategui’s family. “We may speak dierent languages and have dierent traditions, but we are not two separate communities,” said Fr. Paco. “We are one family of believers with the same faith, and we are united in a wonderful bond that we call our spiritual family.”

To help ensure a continuum of care for Fr. Paco and all our devoted priests who faithfully serve our Catholic family please support the special collection on September 17-18.
