The softly glowing dial of a vintage radio, the eloquent geometry of an Art Deco

pattern, pure, vivid colors and textures to kindle tactile awareness, and imagery that

evokes pleasantly familiar memories; these and so much more that is forgotten, yet not lost, inspire the designs shown here.

Much of that with which we surround ourselves in daily life can be imbued

with meaning and value by the eloquent application of imagery. The exigencies

of practicality and function need not prevent us from from letting every moment

be one which inspires and connects us with the miracle of our own existence.

Let us be able to express ourselves as timely, yet timeless while the whims of

fashion and caprice of style whirl in an ever-widening, yet endlessly repeating circle.

Daniel Pelavin is in his fourth decade of transforming and melding the images and cultural ephemera of our times into cogent and compelling messages for publishing, advertising and communication design.

Working his way up through the ranks in the legendary art studios of Detroit, in the halcyon days of the early 1970’s. Pelavin apprenticed with artists from the entire gamut of graphic arts professionals, including, decorative, fashion, product and technical illustrators as well as letterers, typographers and designers. Following the completion of a master of fine arts degree, he spent time teaching college courses in design, lettering and illustration before moving to New York City in 1979.

More than 30 years later, he has honed and polished his craft to become a celebrated illustrator and typographic designer with national and international clients, who shares his knowledge and experience with students and fellow professionals alike and continues to play a pioneering role in the evolution of digital art and the seamless merging of design and illustration.

A lifelong interest and fascination with dimensional forms and tactile experience has taken him beyond the realm of the graphic page into the world of 3D modeling and rendering with aspirations to create, not merely images, but objects, products and devices whose usefulness is enhanced and extended by the eloquence of their design and construction.
