Chicago Architecture Biennial Chicago, Illinois Project Consultant August 25 - December 18, 2015 Created and executed the Volunteer Recruitment program for the Chicago Architecture Biennial, the largest architecture exhibition in North America, which ran from October 3, 2015-January 3, 2016. Scheduled and managed 120 volunteers who worked at all Opening Weekend events on September 30, October 1 and October 2. Scheduled and managed 75 volunteer tour docents who conducted daily tours for the duration of the exhibition. Managed Opening Weekend events including the Participant Reception for 200 internationally acclaimed architects; Opening Press Conference with Mayor Emanuel; Reception and Dinner hosted by Mayor Emanuel; and the Preview Reception for 2,200 guests. Managed outreach to Chicago Public Schools along with Biennial partner, the Chicago Architecture Foundation, to schedule 56 Field Trips to the exhibition. Planned and managed Volunteer Thank You Reception for 200 guests. Planned and managed cultivation breakfast for potential sponsors of the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial. New relationships for SOC include: Google, BP, LinkedIn, Wintrust, 7-11 and Citadel. Managed existing relationships with AT&T, United, Walgreens, Bank of America and ComEd. Chicago Park District Chicago, Illinois Lakefront Director February 2001 - August 2002 Department of Lakefront Services and Lakefront Region, Management and Supervision Budget responsibility of $30 million, monthly briefing of operations, programming and special events. Direct report to the General Superintendent and Chicago Park District Board of Commissioners. Liaison to elected officials representing constituents along Chicago’s lakefront and nine Park Museums. Services and Region responsibilities included landscape and maintenance operations, programming activities at twelve staffed facilities. Capital improvement projects, including the revetment and reconstruction of Soldier Field and the construction of Millennium Park; revenue generating contracts with private companies relating to Park District owned harbors, golf courses, parking garages, concessions, and Soldier Field. Meckler Bulger & Tilson Chicago, Illinois Associate October 2000 - February 2001 • Researched and wrote position statements for the defense against Title VII claims. • Researched case law for commercial transactional claims, consumer fraud claims and insurance fraud claims. Director assigned special projects that reviewed legislation and proposed City ordinances, involved discussion alongside the sponsoring Alderman’s office. • Special interest in policy making procedures, invested parties, and specific wording of the ordinance.
