Project Purpose

• To assist underserved, low-income students at Cleveland High School, Seattle with college access.

Project Goals

• Two components of project:1. To improve the marketing and visibility of scholarships for students by creating a list of scholarships via Delicious, a social bookmarking site2. To improve the accessibility of important college information and resources for student use by reorganizing Cleveland’s Career/College Center

Course Concepts

• Classism and Racism: Space provided in Cleveland’s Career/College Center is not easily accessible to students, who are mostly low- to middle-class and non-White

• Power of Alliances: The collaborative efforts between staff of the four organizations who share the center demonstrate their care and support for students, which can positively influence the development of college planning

• As student affairs administrators:• It is our responsibility to provide a safe space for students

to enhance their learning outside of the classroom

• We must be knowledgeable of the resources available and present information to students in ways that are easily accessible and relevant to their individual needs

• We will need to build effective working relationships with individuals from various departments in order to increase the quality of services provided to students
